Google is working on it’s third operating system named Fuchsia. It is the operating system designed to replace Android. And with given time it can be used to make some of the cloud based applications. For now there are only prototypes coming out in the web. And they are replacing some of the androids design and other issues. Though the operating system is still juvenile. There are not many things that are coming from the system that are impressive. Mostly there is the same thing that you can see in the Android. Though the system lacks the Linux kernel. So that’s another thing to watch out at. In this article, I want to discuss some of the interesting things about the Fuchsia OS. And we will see what are some nice features being discussed in the due process.
Magenta kernel
Everybody knows most of the smartphones are based on Linux. And they develop sleek UI usually on top of it. Not this time. Google has invested a lot of money into Magenta. And they are now making that kernel. So far as per them it is getting a lot of attention. And in few years it seems like Magenta will be mainstream kernel. So if given enough efforts, you can see that smartphone market may have yet another OS. So with given time, Magenta is another OS which may get adopted by the smartphone companies. So it’s definitely worth going after. You have to check that out as well.
Armadillo UI
The Fuchsia OS is coming with it’s own UI. And it is going to have both smartphone and tablet mode. So design once and run on anywhere is retained. I think that’s the best part from Android that they have learned in due process. I think if UI is tweaked well then it can even be good enough to take advantage of the kernel in such way you don’t need Android anymore. And with enough RAM and the OS being optimized you can clean a lot of things. I am not sure what are some of the plans of the Fuchsia OS but it seems like it is set out to replace the Android market. That is for sure.
Updates
There are no official documents on how they plan to roll out the updates. My guess is that unlike chrome and Android, this may have on the fly update from the google itself. And this could mean that it can be less of issue for the phone manufacturers. So it’s worth going over if there are not many issues with how the designing and coding part goes. I think it’d be worth checking if anyone wants to develop on the top of the google’s Fuchsia OS. I personally think that if given enough time they may replace some of the low cost OS out there in the market. I must say update wise even Linux kernel takes time.
As you can see that Fuchsia OS is worth going forward if you are App developer and if you are serious about changing the Android to this OS.
