As I write there is an ice storm raging in Europe. There are freezing temperatures causing power cuts, and fallen trees and disrupted train service. There are dangerous roads, and lashing winds, and snow falls, mixed with ice.
Over 200 thousand homes in France have no power. Unless they have wood fires, they have no heat. The wind is near hurricane strength reaching above 90 miles per hour.
The storm is so bad, they have given it a name; “Egon”.
Emergency teams gave been out all night and into the day in both France and Germany. As bad as this storm is in Western Europe, where a woman died when a tree crushed her and schools and colleges have cancelled classes due to the weather, it is even worse in Eastern Europe.
The roads across Europe have been declared treacherous as snow and black ice fall, and people have already died in crashes caused by this skidding.
This ‘Global Warming’ cold snap across Europe has claimed more than sixty five lives, so far. Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and western Turkey, are suffering with heavy snow and freezing cold.
What makes it even worse are the thousands of migrants in the Balkans who are virtually living on the street. They have almost no protection against the icy conditions, as the fortunate are in tents with no heating, while others are on the road, hiding under blankets. Inevitably, many will die.
There seemed to be little expectation of this storm and its extent. Making one ponder the level of ‘weather’ forecasting.
This storm, this cold, has not been experienced for many years in Europe. Yes, sure, low temperatures. Sure, snow. Even ice. But a storm of this power and extent seems to indicate the coming of an Ice Age, not ‘warming’.
This is the problem when the world feeds itself a fantasy and does everything it can to convince others of something that is not happening.
Just as my silly acquaintance in upstate New York who, despite seeing Niagara Falls freeze, despite seeing the pipes on his parent’s house burst; still believes in Global Warming, there are people freezing to death, who think the world is getting warmer.
