Facts We Don’t Know about Mayans

One of the interesting things about any older civilization is that we will never know about the reality. And a lot of things about them remain the speculation. So we need to learn only from those who survived. And even from them it would be something that is not easy to understand. I think mayans are one such who used to be mystery. But a lot of things about them are not mystery anymore. And we know a lot of things about them through the surviving people around. I think lot of those things about mayans are now out there for many of us to see through the documentaries released.

One of the interesting fact about the mayans was that they used to take sauna bath. And this was not just for bath but also the sauna as an healing. This is one of the things that we can learn from the mayan that they used to be more or less health conscious. That’s some good fact that I have learned from documentary.

They used to have the self governing state. And before spanish invaded their state, they performed just fine. The massacre that spanish attackers did, pretty much killed the way they used to live. I think that is one of the thing we have managed to learn from the history. It’d be interesting to see how they played the role for influencing the spanish lifestyle. I am sure spanish people have taken some lessons from them.

Chichen Itza and some of the pyramids used to be in land of a private owner. But the government later purchased the land and now that is under protection of the UNESCO site. So these are some of the things that are part of protection by the world governance around the world. So that’s some interestint fact that was released about the mayans. And hopefully things stay that way there as well.

Mayan calandar does not predict the end of the world in 2012. In fact they had multiple ways to see how the days and night worked for them. So most of the hoax out there for their calendar is wrong. And they used to worship the sun in lot different ways. So they had their understanding of the day and night. In fact the after life they used to believe in had different way of looking at the world.

Lot of the mayan drawings had graffiti type of understanding in it. They used to log everything in their way. And they used to document that. And that is how we know more about their cutlutre. Lot of their findings are nicely designed and painted on their buildings and art. So it’s not hard to find out what are some of the ways with which you can see how the mayans checked it as well.
