Don’t Have Time — And Other Deviations

Years ago a friend of mine married and was moving overseas.  He sent us this ‘announcement’ that he wouldn’t have time to respond to emails, sorry if he doesn’t answer our little notes.

Okay.

I got that.   He’s going away, strange place, time to settle in, maybe a job that takes all his time.    Sending ten different people emails, even doing a copy of one, would take time.     And he doesn’t have time.

Right?

If he doesn’t have time, then how is it that he can be on Facebook everyday publishing rubbish.   This isn’t a kind of ‘hey guys, I doing this or I have been here...’ sort of a global ‘report’, this is the kind of ‘I read this, (had the time to read it,  huh?) and I’m posting it here… with my comments,’   (not too busy to write comments, huh?)

He’s not the only one that has this ‘time’ issue.

A chap I know retired.  He retired, is living in the country, his kids have grown and gone.  So every single day there are at least twenty different bits of his commentary all over Facebook.

I told him about this site, after all, he could put all the bits into an item and publish it.  Instead of jamming his friends pages with nonsense, (it takes all my effort NOT to unfriend him) he can put it into an article.

You know his response; he doesn’t have ‘time’.

The time he wastes posting on Facebook, (items that don’t even garner a ‘like’) he could place a long, well thought out article here.  But I suppose that would be too intelligent.   It would take too much ‘time’.

To be coarse,  I can’t see corresponding on Facebook.

Firstly, everything is ‘out there’.   The number of people who have been hacked, ripped off, tricked, and had their information used and abused, can fill a hard drive,  but people still post;  Photos of their children, their jobs, their trips, their travels, so anyone can know that their home will be vacant from X day to Y day….

But they have no time to send a personal email.   They have no time to join a writing site to get this ‘need’ to babble out of their system.

Each day I have 20 or more notifications on my page.  I read none of it, I may skim down the line, but I often don’t even glance at the headline.   I don’t think anyone does.   I went over my page to see prove the point, there are no comments or likes under 99% of their stuff.

So why do they keep publishing?  Publishing free, publishing in a place few sensible people will expose themselves to?
