Do You Have a Favorite Place/ Your “Quiet Place?”

Man of us have a favorite place in the house or even outside of our homes where we find it so quiet and relaxing.
It can be a nook, in a chair,in a couch in your sala, or in a corner in your yard or garden.
A Corner in the “Woods”

Mine is what I called a “corner in the woods,” though it is not literally in the woods, but a portion of the village planted with mahogany trees. It is my favorite spot to rest after some 20 or 30 minutes of biking/walking every morning. It is the end of a main road inside the village. It is separated by a wall from the adjacent vacant lot which has tall grasses, and other wild plants.

Birds Chirping

During sunny mornings, there are lots of birds chirping while perched on the mahogany trees. It is a delight to hear them, and see them apparently playing or chasing each other. I think it is mating season that’s why the birds are so active.

Monitor Lizard on the Wall

Aside from the birds, there was a monitor lizard that crawled on the wall one morning when I walked towards my favorite corner. Maybe it was hungry looking for food. I was sorry I failed to bring along my cellphone with camera. It could been a good photo opportunity.

I am glad there is still such an animal here. It is helpful in balancing the ecosystem because it eats rats and other harmful pests. I wish people will not catch it. Some people eat its meat, although there are laws that prohibits the killing or catching of such endangered species. I think monitor lizards already an endangered.

Back to my favorite spot. It is a place which I found so relaxing, as if I “own” the
place where I can “commune” with nature. It is there where I can focus on positive things that are happening to our family. It is so quiet there, only the chirping of the birds and cicadas can be heard, along with the rustling of leaves as the wind blows through the trees.

The sound are so relaxing. It is there where I also use my Santosha beads to reflect and be grateful for the blessings we receive. It is a corner in our village, not inside the woods, but just about a kilometer from the city proper.

I wish that nobody could purchase that lot adjacent to “my favorite spot,” or it is us who could buy it. Who knows, positive thoughts can bring positive results.

Where is your favorite nook? I would be glad to read about it. Thanks for reading.

    • My favorite place is our bedroom. It is actually my sanctuary.

I do myLotting , LB while I watch TV or listen to CDs. Usually, during weekend, hubby would be outside in his desktop by the lobby. So, I have it for myself.

In it, I would dance to exercise while I watch TV and at the meantime listen to my dance music in my earphone through my mobile phone.

I can stay there the whole day, because I just go out to drink a cold drink. We have foods in our big canister of biscuits and fruits too in the open container.

It's my sanctuary when I am at home, because I can relax there and do what I have to do, without disturbance.

      • Yes, it is so nice to spend the day in such a favorite room in the house where you are free to do what you want.

    • The favorite spot is staying on the beach. If I have the chance, I usually travel in nearby beaches from my city.I spend the whole day and it is enough to energize my inner souls. The best part of the activity is to stay at the seaside and listen to the sea waves. I felt so relax being in this place.

I am always the busy family member and the best choice for people who are experiencing a troubled soul. It wasn't that bad situation but being so busy at times. I got wasted at work and a get away to certain places will replenish the tiredness of the soul.

      • Thanks Shavkat. It is really nice to stay on the beach and enjoy the beauty of nature. It said that the sea, mountain, the woods, exudes negative ions which is beneficial to our health. It relaxes the mind.

    • My favorite is place is my art studio.

I love sitting in my comfy chair and paint for hours. My life is hectic with two boys, the oldest being 2 years old. My youngest is 9 months. So I get overwhelmed a lot. Nighttime painting is my favorite thing to do. I get to unwind and escape into any world I create. I learn new things and often surprise myself with the new things I create on a canvas and with a brush. Painting is so relaxing and just helps clear my head and get centered. I can express all my emotions and get a beautiful painting out of it. I'm no pro by any means but I sure do love it!

      • Wow! So nice to know Sarah that you are an artist. I admire artists who can transform a plain canvass into a beautiful work of art, the way they wanted to present their thoughts or ideas.

It is really relaxing because you can express your emotions there; a very nice way of releasing stress. Do you sell your paintings? Good luck on your hobby.

Thanks for your reply Sarah, and have a good day!
