Deepavali Time is Fast Approaching

By JH Sayyar

Deepavali in other words diwali is the Hindu festival and Diwali night falls between mid-October and mid-November. Date falls on 30 October 2016. It is made every year in autumn and on this day official holiday is declared in all over India, Fiji, Guyana, Pakistan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Trinidad and Tabago.

Actually it is the festival of lights and lights are lit in every home of India and play with colors throwing one another in this festival. I have participated in Pakistan Dewali festival I enjoyed it with my whole heart. One Guru told me its spiritual significance in detail I spent the whole night with the Guru Ramdas in Sadiqabad at his home.

Actually Deepavali signifies the victory of spiritual over the darkness of soul. Here light means knowledge and it leads men to spiritual light from the world of darkness, the world illiteracy. The Deepavali lightening show that spirituality is prevailing on the whole earth of India but it is not so this festival has lost its essence and this festival is made just for fun.

I have seen before the arrival of Deepavali all the people decorate and clean their houses and at night time all the people of India wear dew and gorgeous dresses even men, women and small children enjoy Deepavali festival at home and out of homes and all worship Lakshmi Devi is called the goddess of fertility and prosperity among the Hinduism.

I think Deepavali is the best and hot season of shopping and gifts are exchanged among selves friend between friend, family between and children among children and sweats are given gift to friends and families and besides this old man tell the significance of Deepavali to the young generation. I have also seen that on Deepavali night people shoot fire cannons to express their happiness all over the world. On that night family members invites friends and families at homes for entertainment.

Deepavali Festival is made on this ground that King Dasharatha ordered his son name, Rama, the prince of Ayodhya, to spend fourteen years in a jungle or forest. Listening to the order of his father he took his wife Sita with him and went to the forest far away from his homebut while travelling to his dwelling place Satan nature king Rawana abducted Sita by force and took the princess of Ayodhya with him to Sri Lanka. At this situation Rama was very upset.

At last he decided to rescue his wife princess Sita from the evil clutches of Rawana. Rama went to Sri Lanka and started fighting with Rawana in Sri Lanka, for this he fought fourteen years against Rawana to save her life and chastity. At lat Rama got the victory over Rawana the evil king Sri Lanka after fourteen years. Getting the victory over Ravana, Rama came back with his wife Sita at the land of Ayodhya.

Looking at the abducted princess again in the country all the peoples were very happy. To glorify Rama’s arrival in Ayodhya, all the peoples of India light up their houses and homes, offices and shops lamps and candles burning all night with men and women, old and young, babes and children. Thus they express their feelings and emotion at this happy occasion.

The theme and moral of Deepavali is the best and meaning full but I have seen in all religions that spiritual festival had lost it importance and these day people arrange festivals as the tradition of their forefathers and nothing else because I see no improvement of spiritual education and peoples are losing the importance of important carnivals. It is a very serious aspect of all religious galas.

    • Well,Dewali is traditional festival in India as for as know.I have seen that in the movies. It looks good in the movies when the celebrate the way they celebrate its just awesome, people get together and wearing different colors. They burn the candle and have parties lunch dinner together. In every country people have their traditional cermonies. In India Dewali is the main festival. In our country Pakistan we have to celebration Eid ul Azha and Eid ul Fitar .these 2 Eid also celebrated in India because half of the population in India are Muslims

    • You are saying it rightly. The spiritual aspect of the festival is not even known to the people. If the festival is celebrated at least as a tradition of fathers and forefathers it would have been nice. But people are losing sight of both these aspects.
They only celebrating it as a family get together.
They are following all formalities of the festival but forgetting the prayer of Goddess Lakshmi.

Slowly after seeing the sale of the Idols of the Goddess Lakshmi people are coming to know that she should be worshiped on Diwali festival.

Most of them are bringing the Idol and doing some prayer. But not doing the worship in a proper manner.

People should know that the Goddess Lakshmi should be worshiped midnight at 12 O'CLOCK with all in red color. She should be decorated with red saree, the flowers should be red in color. The gold ornaments and other jewelry should be kept before her or she must be decorated with this jewelry. The pooja will take about 1 hour. Everything should be kept clean and a coconut is broken in front of her. There will be some 1 rupee coins with which she is worshiped.

After breaking the coconut the Aarthi will be given and the prayer will be closed . Some people do not perform the worship using coins. It does not matter. This is not compulsory.

      • Thanks my friend to agree with my point we all must have to make joint efforts for the revival of all religions' spiritual aspects bringing into light for betterment of humanity. Thanks
