How to Deal With Racism and Discrimination

Anyone who has been a target of racism and discrimination knows how damaging racism is and has always been. The days of the water holes and dogs attacking African Americans are gone but there’s a new form. The racism and discrimination has not only reached the work place but is now all over cyber space. Technology has made it easier to spill out hate messages and comments.

To see such things is disturbing but racism is for the misunderstood. With misunderstanding there’s ignorance. Those who hate people based solely on their race is doing a disservice to society. They’re hate only creates more problems. There’s already enough social issues to deal with and having to tackle racism and discrimination may be a hard battle. With time we’ll figure out better ways to deal with such an ugly problem.

One way to Deal With Racism and Discrimination

One of the best ways to deal with racism and discrimination is to admit that racism and discrimination exists. Not admitting that racism is a problem will only allow the issue to grow. Not displaying love allows racism to grow. We’ve been through so much the we meaning minorities and in some cases African Americans. We can sometimes mean all people but with the problematic racism and discrimination issues floating about the we has taken form into “minorities.” Enough of madness. We can march and rally up and down but if we’re not demonstrating love then the marches and rallies won’t do any justice. Love conquers and love will certainly defeat hate. Hate has no place here or there.

Technology and Racism

The use of technology has allowed the hate to sent out from a keyboard. Most likely from individuals who are fearful and wouldn’t in a million years say those words in person. If we won’t to tackle racism then we’ll have to face racism head on. Confronting those who are spilling hate is one way. Addressing those individuals in a peaceful manner but expressing just how we feel about their actions. If we sweep racism and discrimination under the rug then we’ll be going back to the Dr, Martin Luther King Jr. days. Every has “rights.” Yes, there’s a certain group of people who have always felt superior to mainly African Americans, but to minorities in general. There’s no way that we shouldn’t be addressing the shootings, hangings, and disrespect that so many ethnic groups experience.

Racism and discrimination needs to be address and of course anyone trying to address issues that are so sensitive will receive resistance. Some are unwilling to speak out about the growing problem because of fear. Fear of retaliation. For those who are running for office. They’ll want to issue to stay quiet. At least after they’ve won their election and then what? Instead of addressing such issues they’ll rather try to silence the “voice.”

    • I can prove what you say is true... I am going to write an item about it. We in Jamaica actually tested the racism....

    • When you talk of racism Apartheid comes to mind and this I suppose was confined to South Africa. It does not exist any more but individually people practice it here and there. Why just the colour in every walk of life there is this segregation for different reasons.

    • It is difficult to change the attitude of privileged people who are used to defaming, exploiting and cheating others for personal gain or hatred. Discrimination and racism is prevalent worldwide

    • indeed it is unfair for a nation to treat the color of a person skin different, same goes with religion.
racism is everywhere, not only in the western countries but in asian countries too.
Though I can't mention country name, I can tell you that the majority of the same religion treated other minority religion with unjustified laws and rules.
