I hate to admit it but the fact is China is doing its best to influence countries South East Asia region and all the member states of SAARC namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. China knows the importance of India in this area especially in India’s bordering countries so supporting Pakistan and Nepal for particular purpose of keeping them under in its own influence.
China has been spending large amounts in Pakistan for a long time supporting and financing them in construction of rail lines, bridges, airports, oil, solar energy, dams and training army besides giving them advance military technology.
China has now started its activities in other strategically important areas bordering with India for instance Nepal is the latest inclusion in the list of China. China has promised all support to Nepal in every field. Actually China is doing everything to reduce the importance of India in Nepal considered the only supporting country so far.
India is victim of bad inside politics at the moment and China is trying to take best advantage of this situation. On the other hand Nepal after the recent disturbance after introduction of its first constitution and subsequent disapproval from a particular section of its citizens considered to be pro India, wants an alternate source of oil.
There was a time when there was no alternate of reaching to Nepal but traveling through India therefore India and Nepalese relations remained strong for years but now China is making inroads in these relations for its personal interests of establishing itself as the only superpower in the area on its way to become one of the world’s superpower.
I have no problem from which source a free country takes support or keeps its relations but with my own experience of what China did in Tibet and Hong Kong, I have my own doubts about Nepal’s future.

Power abhors a vacuum. India and China are the two Asian giants in terms of economic and military power. In Geo-politics it is necessary to project strength in order to promote and protect one's self-interests. Will China resort to military adventurism? Only as a last resort if negotiation and diplomacy fails. It is the United State that is trying to create an alliance among neighboring Asian countries against China. This is not for the welfare of those countries but mainly to project and maintain US power in the Asian-pacific region.
