Several thousands of trains are running in India, But there is special name to this train Abhor-Jodhpur passenger train, this train number is:54703. When the train reaches Bhatinda all couches will be filled with cancer patients and relatives of cancer patients and will reach the train to Bikaner, so this train is called as Cancer train.
It is regular that cancer patients will move from once place to another place for cure. But from same place more than 100 cancer patients are travelling in same train, it is the cancer patients travel more in holidays and weekends in that train, but there is no such train in the world with name as “Cancer train”
The cancer patients are increased since ten year from place Malvtain Punjab state of India mainly from Mansa, Sangrur,Bhatinda, Firidkot,Moga, Mukthasar from Firojpur district. They are poor daily labor and small farmers to ;take required medication. There is no scope to take medication in hospitals in nearby area, they have to spend thousands of rupees for check up itself. So they are going to Govt hospital in Bikaner.
The only suitable transportation to that place is only this passenger only, they are catching this cancer train at 9.20 PM in the night and they will reach at next day morning.they will reach Bikaner. There they will take check up after check up they will catch same return train at 9.30 and reach Bhatinda next day morning. This train is having only one sleeper couch and rest of the couches are ordinary so there is no need of reservation to travel in these couches. For cancer patients no need to purchase ticket travelling is free and any companion with the cancer patients they have to pay only 25% of fare in this train. So the cancer patients are from near by villages will be waiting for this train at Bhatinda station from 9.00 pm itself.
There is another reason also to went all these cancer patients to Bikaner is that “Acharya Tulsi Regional Cancer Treatment and Research Institute”, because without any economical status of the patient, every body receive free treatment here. This institute having a tie-up with Medicine manufacturers and selling the medicines for whole sale price itself. There is no need to worry to stay some days for medication, because meals avaiable at Rs 5.00 in hospital canteen and daily milk will be supplied freely for the cancer patients. When compared with other places the accommodation is very cheep in Choultries only Rs 50.00 per day for a room. So the cancer affected families going to Bikaner, this is the talk of everybody in this train.
In private hospital the fee for check up only cost Rs 2,50,000 excluding still the medication is not started., but the same in Bikaner total cure only Rs30,000.00. In Bhatinda all the private hospitals are having all AC rooms and the charge per room per night is Rs 2000.00, then think what will be the charges for medication and cure. Some persons are traveled 30 times in this train to take medication for cancer.

Cancer treatment is very costly just like you have mentioned. It is good to know that there is a train that caters for cancer patients, unlike other places where patients really struggle to get to medical centres where they can get help, others even die on their way there. But if that's the situation there in India I think the government should jump in and probably provide another train or two so that people can at least have a comfortable ride to the hospital.it would help quite a lot.
It is really pricey to avail cancer treatment. I do think it is not only in your country in dealing with this kind medical condition. In some point, we cannot blame the cancer patients to take the chance to ride in Cancer Train as you called. They wanted to avail the medical services with their own budgets.
I hope that your government can have a cancer center in their provinces. In this way, the cancer patients will not need to be troublesome to travel. The manner of traveling is also not advisable for cancer patients. It can worsen the secondary complications of carcinoma. They are susceptible to acquire some additonal diseases from the environment.
I have heard of this before and I find this very very disturbing indeed!
