Beautiful Plants And Flowers That Are Poisonous

On my previous blogs, I talked about herbal plants or herbs that are good for our health. However, as I was reading some topics that are related to it, I come across an article about plants that are beautiful but are poisonous. That is why in this article, I will discuss some of my gathered information about certain plants that are toxic.

1. Veratrum This veratrum is also called corn lily, corn flower, sneezewort, white hellebore, or a skunk cabbage and is commonly grow in dense patches. This plant is said to be dangerous or harmful by just smelling it. Actually, all parts of veratrum are proven that it is poisonous.
2. Cerbera Odollam This plant is said to be a “suicide tree” and is deadly. It is also called pong pong tree. It has a content alkaloid toxin that paralyzes the heart. If any part of the plant is ingested, it may cause illness and you might eventually die.
3. Naked Lady Plant This lovely plant with beautiful flowers are said to be poisonous. Its smell is so good but can cause heart failure.
4. Daphne Beautiful flowers aren’t they? It is fragrant but is dangerous. Even the fruit and the sap of the plant is considered to be more poisonous than the flower itself. Some symptoms of poisoning are convulsions, headache, and delirium.
5. Hemlock Water Dropwort This wild plant is one of the most poisonous. It is often mistaken as parsley, celery, and parsnip. It is said that within an hour after eating any part of this plant can cause death.

Plants are sometimes deceptive, right? That is why be careful of the plants that you are taking. No matter how beautiful and fragrant the flower is, it is always good to know more about them first before having it for our own safety. There are many more plants that are very dangerous aside from the five listed above. I will try to compile more of it on my next topic about poisonous plants.
