Let us get back to the belief systems at work and take a look at their viability. We think that once angry, the works are getting done smoothly and whenever there is a hiccup, it is smoothened when we shout at someone. The fact is that though works are getting done with anger, every time anger is used, turbulent energies are being created. The amount of turbulent energy is not small. In fact, the energy is at one of its extremes. It is this violent nature of energy which makes us feel that things are getting done on its use.
What we fail to perceive is that this extreme energy is actually turbulent in nature. Once angry, it induces release of all sorts of toxic chemicals inside our body which we together classify under the heads of stress inducing hormones and neuro-transmitters. These chemicals unleash a series of physiological changes like muscle tightening, increased heart rate and blood pressure, emotional hijack, etc. Though these actually peps up performance at the temporary level (and we feel the exhilaration or power), they do widespread and terrible damage to the entire physical and psychological system in the long run. The worse part is that once angry, it activates the emotional circuitry so strongly that it suppresses the cortical part i.e. thinking part of our brains. The Result! We lose the power of thought or judgement. It is not uncommon to see enraged people carrying out dastardly acts which they repent later for their whole life. This is an example of how the emotional circuitry takes over the thinking power of the brain. This is what is called emotional hijack and the principal organ triggering it is the Amygdala.

Very well explained! I would not say that anger exhilarates though. One might feel supremacy temporarily.
