Be Like the “Makahiya” Plant (Mimosa pudica) and Live Happy

Photo shows the makahiya plant, scientific name: Mimosa pudica. It is a plant that is so “shy” because it closes once touched. Apparently it wanted to avoid being seen, or to just be silent to avoid some confrontations (in my own analysis).

And the inspiration provided by the Makahiya plant is a good thing to follow. If you encounter a very aggressive person, what will you do? Will you act that way he acts, to give him a dose of his own medicine? Engage him in a verbal tussle or in a fist fight, or the worse, gun duel!

Road Rage
These incidents happen even in the roads when rude drivers do not respect other road users. Even a slight demeanor like giving way or yielding to each other, will lead to exchange of harsh words or invectives directed at each other.

Such is the case with what happened to two young men riding a motorcycle, but the guy driving a sports utility vehicle (SUV) got irked when the motorcycle passed him. He got mad and shot the young man driving the motorcycle in the head killing him on the spot. The suspect evaded arrest and went hiding in a province, but a concerned citizen informed the police about the whereabout of the suspect. She said she saw the picture of the suspect in Facebook after the victim’s sister posted it asking Facebook users to help her find the suspect so he will be charged in court for murder. This story was from a television news.

To make the story short, if the suspect observed calmness and restraint, he should have been a free man now.

Moral Lesson

If people would be so respectful of others, there will be peace everywhere. If they would act like a “makahiya” plant, then there will be less trouble. I do not say that one needs to be so shy to avoid skirmishes with other people, but just be simple and peace loving.

But take note: Makahiya plant has thorns. It is so shy yet “deadly” with its sharp thorns once you step or trample on it. The same with a very kind man, he can be so fierce if he was provoked or his right was disrespected.

    • Very nice story, yes if only there will be peace throughout. I know longer see this plant this time. When I was a child my father told me about this plant makahiya and when we touch it folds its leaves, it seems very sensitive pant. This plant is medicinal plant.
