I have signed up to this Shift It, Change Your Life free interview series which is hosted by Kate Crow. I have listened to another interview, which the interviewee is Daniel Gutierrez. He has inspired many people to make positive changes that lead to success.
Again, I have not heard about him before, but I have learned something good from his interview, though it’s already something I am practicing now – Be here now.
Many of us have experienced about regretting for what we have done in the past, and most of us are worrying about what will happen in the future. Daniel suggested us to forget about yesterday, not to think about tomorrow, but just stay focus in the moment.
60 second mindfulness practice
There is a simple practice that he provided to help people stay in the moment, which just require 60 seconds – Give yourself 60 seconds to be mindful. Mindfulness is not meditation, it doesn’t require us to sit down for a long time. It just requires us to be aware, to be in the moment.
Daniel also provided an easy to practice method, which is to hold a warm cup of coffee or tea for 60 seconds with both hands. When we are holding the cup, we just focus on the energy of the warmth and take a deep breath. Every time if our mind wander around, we just bring it back and stay focus on the warmth on our hands.
I definitely like this 60 second mindfulness practice. Sometimes I do not have much time and do not feel like meditating, hence I just close my eyes, focus on my breath for one or two minutes, and it really helps me to stay calm when I am focusing in the moment, though my mindfulness practice is aim to be mindful at every moment. But, at the beginning, I think if we can find any 60 seconds a day to be mindful woud be good too. We can also take the opportunity of any time in a day to practice this 60 second mindfulness.
Penny Game
Daniel also suggest a game to play, which is called penny game. There are actually many pennies or coins left on the ground. Many people have walked pass the pennies, but were not aware of the pennies at all, as they are not mindful when they are walking. Let’s practice to be mindful when we are walking, and we might be able to find many pennies on the ground.
I agree with this. Usually my children can spot the coins on the ground easily, and even though I was on the same place, I might not be able to see the coins. I have read that young children do not need to learn to be mindful, as they are already living in the moment. We just need to allow them to stay there, and keep pulling them away from the moment.
Daniel Gutierrez also shares a free gift with us, which are five MP3 recordings to his secrets to abundance training – grab it here.
