As was expected on a seamy green wicket Bangladesh started poorly and lost their first 5 wickets under 100 at the team score of 91 runs in 26.3 over’s in the form of K Mahmud, F Ahmed, N Rahman, M Hossian and A Islam. Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals in the game and never looked settled and eventually were only able to make 178 runs in 50 over’s at the loss of 7 wickets and M Abedin top scored with unbeaten 53 runs in 99 balls with 6 4’s and the strike rate of 53 runs in 100 balls.
Australia was required to chase 179 runs in 50 over’s to win this game.
Australia batted superbly well and chased the total in only 19.5 over’s at the loss of only 3 wickets with Aussie Wicket keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist top scored with 63 runs in 39 balls with 12 4’s at the strike rate of 162 runs in 100 balls and Tom moody made 56 runs in only 29 balls with 6 4’s and 2 long sixes at the strike rate of 193 runs in 100 balls.
Australia won the game by 7 wickets and with 181 balls still remaining to play.
