Are we ready to help?

The incidents of road rage are on the increase in my area for last few years and increasing at such an alarming rate that I have started fearing being involved in one myself soon. It’s been happening too frequently in last 3-4 years. There is not a single day when I do not hear or read about more than one in a day and most of them have no serious reason

I have seen men assaulted in public transports, roads, cars, parks and other public places. And the most disturbing factor is that not a single onlooker came forward to help in almost 99% cases. I think plenty of people could have helped but did not. But I still believe they would have if they had only known what to do.

I have witnessed few of them myself and I wanted to move forward but I was a little bit scared at that particular moment and felt weird for a few days afterwards. I suggest instead of spending so much money on policing the government should deploy security guards in public transport, roads and in every busy markets.

As far roads are concerned we should withdraw the work from local police and give it to local youth willing to help people. I should rather promote a ‘bystander intervention training programs’ because police cannot be present everywhere but bystanders are.

I did not want to disclose it but our police in most cases reach to the scene once the offenders have fled or there is nothing much left to be done. In most cases the criminals go Scot free especially if they belong to influential families or to the ruling party.

However, we should experiment with “Bystander Intervention” the fact is that If we stand up to violence, we will all be a lot safer. Out policing system is not only corrupt but failed miserably.
