A Little Bit More About Proxy Servers

In my previous item on Proxy Servers I mentioned their use.

Now I’ll give some specifics.

Firstly, you locate  Proxy Servers by a simple search.   You will find a nice long list.

Some servers may go up and down every few hours to prevent detection.  Others are virtually permanent.  The ‘lifetime’ of a Proxy Server sometimes depends on the traffic it gets or is based on the requirements  of the population it services.

Type; “Free Proxy Servers” into any search box, there’s the list.   Select where you want to be.  America?  India?  Macedonia?

Select the server and then use it to connect to other sites.

For example, if you used a Proxy Server in Turkey to connect to this site, the I.P. address would be Turkish. You can be on that Proxy for hours going from site to site,  but as far as any tracer of your service is concerned, you have only been on that Proxy in Turkey.   No one knows where you have been.

Anyone hacking into your computer, to find out where you were, would only find the Proxy Server despite the dozens of other sites you have been on.

This is because as far as any eye is concerned,  the only site you were on from 9 am to 9 pm was that proxy.

Why would you use a Proxy?

Many times you are banned from a site.  This can be for an unjust reason.   Because you are banned, you can’t get back on the site.  For example, a writing site which captures your work,  and locks you out.

Your I.P. is blocked, so the only way you can get on is via another I.P.  using another name.  So you go to a Proxy Server which puts you in some other nation, you go to the site using some other nick, and you can copy your work.

You won’t be able to do much but will at least be able to take a copy and maybe to contact someone in authority.

On some sites you might need to  create a dual so as to confront attackers.   It isn’t just you alone thee in Cyberspace,  you create another identity.   As you log in via a Proxy in a different country, well, it is clear this is a ‘different’ user.

These are just some of the reasons why you would use a Proxy Server.
