Needs Come in Many Ways

Generally when it comes to  helping out or reaching out, the thought centres round financial need. The fact of the matter is that there are different types of needs that require  attention. 

With more and more children leaving the shores seeking greener pastures seniors are left behind to fend for themselves. Many may be financially independent but they have no one to take care of their daily needs. Housekeepers and maids are not only scarce these days but all cannot be trusted. There are several cases where seniors fall a victim in the hands of such unscrupulous elements.

There is need therefore to ‘adopt’ such seniors and give them a look up from time to time. Visiting them and keeping them company or even taking them out occasionally is the need 0f the hour.

Visiting hospitals and consoling the sick could be yet another need. Here again this need is called for as many have no families of their own for various reasons. I have known how eagerly they wait for someone or the other to look them up during visiting hours. When those with families are crowded around these have no one who they can call their own. 

Then there are those drug addicts that need counselling. Before referring them to professionals spending time with them and their families will go a long way in not only helping the addicts but also their families. Most of the time these addicts are shunned by society and that further leads them to go in the direction that made them addicts.

 Last but not the least charity begins at home they say. Home is a miniature society and it is here that the most need is felt in contributing towards creating a happy and peaceful atmosphere. Small though it may seem such a contribution here can lead to a better and peaceful atmosphere the world over – drops make an ocean
