Being a Student

I enjoy being a student for now I am getting close to completing my doctoral degree and I remember several times that when approaching graduation I thought I was done with school, but I keep going back for more.  I guess I am what some people would call a professional student.  Who knows what that means?  I thought it was a person that did not want to work, but I do want to work.  Jobs for me are hard to find.  In between getting my certificate in being an Accounting clerk in 1985 and moving to another state in hopes of getting a job and finding out that those positions were a dime a dozen for whatever that means I decided to work as a housekeeper for a local college and then I had to move back home due to economics at the time.  I started my undergraduate education degrees in early childhood and elementary education that lead to a odd job as a certified nursing assistant and then becoming a licensed practical nurse that lasted for 15 years total and earning enough to be able to retire a little.  During this time of working as a psychiatric nurse I went back to school and this time I studied Human services with a minor of Psychology for I really liked doing the activity therapy groups at work.  A lot of the patients that I cared for were Alzheimer’s/Dementia patients and a lot of the activities I did primarily were adapted from my teaching plans from my days as a elementary education major with changes that I learned from the human services program.

After completing my second bachelor’s degree lead me to enter graduate school that started with counseling that mixed with children’s literature for I used a lot of children’s literature in my activities with the elderly.  I thought I was done with school once again, but the hospital closed my unit a few times and the budget at work well not enough patients for the staff and some of us had to leave.   From this point some other personal events happened and we had to move to the Deep south to Louisiana.  Jobs are very scarce here so I decided to get a Post-masters in College teaching in hopes that I could get a teaching position but again no luck and now hoping with a doctorate this dream will come true, but I would be very happy and content doing research and writing to share all my knowledge of being a student in all the disciplines that I have studied now and in the past.

In summary, the areas that I have studied as a student and employee are Accounting, Early Childhood/Elementary Education, Nursing assistant-Practical nursing, Children’s literature and now Reading and literacy.  In being a student for all these years gave me quite a vast array of knowledge to write about and I am living the dream of being a writer as a possible career.  The bulk of my articles will educational in nature with a few or more of my creative writings.  The image I chose is an abstract drawing of a person that my great nephew drew for me and as a student it kind of depicts how a student feels when completing a facet of education.

    • I think it is great that you have such a diverse educational portfolio. It gives you many options that someone would not have if they only study one thing. I enjoyed reading this and hope to read more of your writing. Great job!

      • Thank you. Writing gives me pleasure and there will be technical articles from my studies as well as my poems and stories that I am have been trying to write.

    • You are now longer a student. You have completed some degrees already and have worked too. In short, you have already an experience, a work experience for you to earn for a living. As what you claim that you are still a student is just a thought or an imagination. Let's put it this away, education creates the foundation to everyone to be learned, knowledgeable and to be independent by applying what he learns. An completing the basic academic requirements and passing the required years of schooling are more than enough to be caegorized ready to explore the world of work. Education per se never ends.It is a life-long process as everyone is living, keeps on reaching his ambitions, plans and whatever.

    • True I have nursing experience and several degrees but I like to learn as much as possible and with these advanced degrees and understanding what I am writing about I can enjoy writing as my new work experience and sharing all my education. I hope you will like my articles.

    • Being a student every body has to cross many stages since childhood to adulthood keeping in mind way experiences for future guideline. But while writing we all forget that those who have abilities and capabilities by such students may get progress in all walk of walk if life.

As I give myself example, I just got education from sixth class after this I left the school because I did not follow what the teacher said in the class was a big problem for me,

I at home with the help of self study got MA English, mater of English, in my country authentic of English grammar is wine written, and I have written 500 sonnets and 100 books on different topics. I have written 18 poetry books in my national language Urdu and 100 English songs and, odes.

The main reason of this is that I was interested in astrology since I traced my birth traits and followed them. Now I am a professional astrologer carrying on my back the experience of 30 years. I am a professor of English.

Those who follow natural trends are successful on earth in all walk of life. It is la of nature that those who have courage to face time cruel waves and keep their beings' existence at any cast are the master of the whole universe.
