Police declare Senator Dino Melaye

The Kogi State Police Command has declared the Senator representing the Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye, wanted.

The Police had confirmed the escape from custody of two suspects arrested and paraded last week for allegedly working for the senator and the son of a former governor of Kogi State, Mohammed Audu.

The suspects that indicted Senator Melaye now on the run include Kabiru Seidu aka Osama and Nuhu Salisu aka Small.

Addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Lokoja, the state capital, the Commissioner of Police, Ali Janga said the duo have been placed on Interpol watchlist.

“The Nigeria Police Force, Kogi state police command today 28th March 2018 received a news that six suspected criminal elements namely; Kabiru Seidu a.k.a Osama, Nuhu Salisu a.k.a Small, Aliyu Isa, Adams Suleiman, Emmanuel Audu and Musa Mohammed who were under detention at the ‘A’ Division Lokoja escaped from lawful custody,” the statement read.

“Investigation into the unfortunate incident is ongoing, while the 13 police officers who were on duty when the incident occurred were defaulted and detained for interrogation.

“The names of Melaye, Mohammed Audu and six suspects have been sent for watchlisting and red notice by the INTERPOL for immediate arrest anywhere we see them.”

He appealed to the public to assist the police with information on the whereabouts of the suspects by reporting to the nearest police station.

Ben Murray-Bruce, senator representing Bayelsa east constituency has reacted to the continued captivity of Leah Sheribu, the Christian girl who refused to denounce her faith.

Boko Haram insurgents have since released 104 of the schoolgirls kidnapped from their school in Dapchi, Yobe state, keeping Leah behind for refusing to denounce her faith.

The senator has now commended Leah Sheribu concerning her faith in Jesus Christ, saying she has shown that one does not negotiate with terrorists.

Ben Bruce in a tweet said, ”Leah has refused to negotiate her faith with terrorists. “She has shown that you don’t negotiate with terrorists. Between Boko Haram and Leah, who has the power? It is Leah. “Without guns and bombs, she has overpowered her captors. May God bring Leah, my hero, safely back home.”
