It’s hard to understand why someone doesn’t want to donate his organs after his death. I wonder what could be a cultural reason behind this. I understand one personally wants to keep his heart or eyes or maybe someone who had self-inflicted diseases then there is no point in donating their organs, but cultural or religious reasons?
There are many people in need of transplants. I know a lady, my friend’s elder sister who had a transplant and was with us for an extra 10 precious years. Her illness was not self-inflicted and her relatives were forever grateful to the donor. But, there are too few of such donors.
If religious organizations including many sects hadn’t spent the better part of human history dragging us backwards, we probably might have some sympathy or better understanding. People do not invite diseases and religious should not be a factor.
People know the importance of donation; they know “it is no give, no take”. But this give and take is going in wrong direction. Yes, you guessed it right the donation is more of a business rather than charity. People from rich country buy it and people from particular section get it forcefully. People from the trade know it all but have become tools in the hands of wrong people.
We can all pray for our future but that won’t be enough perhaps. Stop casting blames and start realizing society as a whole. A small step in starting actions should help that could help us in the future as we can donate our organs after our death of course.
If you are willing to help someone it is not a difficult process. You only have to talk with your family and friends and register with ‘Donate Organ save Life’ kind of organizations. You know life shared is life lived. You live even when you have left the world.
