Five countries with Veto Power

I mean we have so many other countries which qualify to be full time members of UNO’s Defense Council or better still the veto power is totally withdrawn and all countries treated at par. Why is that if only 1 out of 5 countries votes against a proposal the whole world has to accept that?

See, at one hand we plead for equality and on the other hand we have a self appointed group of five super powers based on the number of bombs they have. And the irony is that this very group has the power of bomb on other nations. On one hand they encourage nations to reduce the number of bombs and at the same time sow the world that they have the fire power on their disposal.

In my views the best option is to treat all countries at par if you want to ‘ban the bomb’. The bomb is no solution for any problem but it is only creating a rivalry among the poor nations. And why talk about poor nations only, even the nations with super powers are crying under the pressure of money spent for remaining in the race.

I wonder how it makes sense when they talk about reduction of arms at one table and sign deals on fighter planes and guns at the other table in the same room. I am really concerned whether the world will ever be an armament less place where everyone will have enough to eat and peace of mind of living a bomb-free life!

I wish to remind the world that merely talking about terror will not free you from terror but you will have to act on that with open mind too. I am still shocked the way China chose to use his veto power against the proposal of declaring the dreaded terrorist Masood Azhar a “wanted terrorist” in last assembly of the United Nation’s Security Council.
