Appearing Your Website On Page 1 of Google

Appearing your website on page 1 of Google is a dream of many webmasters, including me.  Being listed on the first page of Google search result is a big achievement for your website.  It means you will have a lot of visitors, more sales if you’re offering products and services, and more commissions if you are placing banner ads or affiliate ads on your website. This process is called Search Engine Optimization or SEO.

Search Engine Optimization is not an easy thing to do. There’s a lot of strategies and techniques that you have to learn to optimize your website for search engine.  It cannot be done in a short period, it takes time.

First, you have to decide what keyword or keywords do you want to target. That when that keyword is typed in Google search bar, your website will be searched. At first, your website is still unknown in Google and you have to make it known . At first , your website will only be seen if  you will type the whole domain of your website.

There’s a lot of things needed to do to rank up your website. First, you should create a lot of backlinks to it. Backlinks are links placed on other websites going to your website.  The popular the websites that you have backlinks at, the more your website will rank up. First, you have to target social media sites. You have to create accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, Tumblr, and other popular ones.  The more the merrier. You have to make a lot of followers and friends on them so that many people will be able to read or view the updates that you are going to post regarding your website. In Facebook, you have to create a Page for your website and join groups related to your website niche. In social media, one of the ways to gain followers is to follow a lot of people, in response, several of them will follow you back. You may also search for accounts that are related to your website. For example,  if your website is about stamp collecting, then you should find accounts similar to collecting stamps and check who are their followers.  Follow all of their followers and since those followers are interested in stamp collecting, there’s a better chance that they will also follow you back. Social media is really one of the best places to market to share your business or website that’s why you have to take advantage of it.

If you were done creating accounts on social media sites, then you can target next the forums, blogs and other sites related to your website niche. You should find websites that are allowing members to post links. You should also search for directory listing websites where you can add your website link to their on their directory. On blogs, you can post a comment and add your website link to it.

For the keyword that you are targeting, it should be visible on all your website pages. It should be mentioned many times throughout your website but not to the extent that it will already look spammy or else, Google will penalize your website ranking.

It is also said that having these on your website will help in your Google ranking.  You should have About, Contact, Blog, Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions pages.  These are not required but it can help in making your website rank higher in search engines.

It is said that a website only has two seconds to convince visitors to stay. So your home page should be interesting and catchy so the first time visitors will opt to stay and check more your website. The longer your website visitors stay on your website, the more your website will rank up.

It is also good to check websites that are similar to yours or websites that have the same niche as yours.  Check what ‘s in there, what are their services, contents, and design.  It will give you an idea on how can you improve your website.

There are also websites that can help you to know your website rank. You will also able to know how your website competitors are doing. You will know their backlinks or the pages link to them. Some of these useful websites are serps and semrush. They will give you ideas on how your website is ranking in different keywords as well as your website competitor’s sites if you will search for them.

The speed of your website is also a factor to increase rank. It will decrease your website ranking if it’s too slow to load. It can also help if your website is mobile-friendly.  Some websites that you c an use to check the speed of your website are WebpageTest, Pingdom, and Google Pagespeed Insights.

If you are using WordPress for your website, one plugin that I can suggest is the one called SEO Ultimate. You can easily create title tags and meta descriptions for every page of your website using it. It will definitely help in increasing your website rank in search engines.

You should also avoid placing a lot of banners on your website especially pop-ups because they can distract your visitors and leave your site.

These are only some of the ways that I learned to rank your website in search engine.  There are also a lot of resources and tutorials available on the internet that you can read or watch on, but I can say that it’s not an easy thing to do.  There’s a lot of websites on the internet and if you will be able to attain to make your website appear on the very first page of Google search for a specific keyword, that would really be a great achievement.
