Violent Kids :: The other side of Video games

Video games – something which the kids of modern times get glued on to. They spend long hours in front of computer, laptop, tablet or even smartphone to complete various levels of their favourite games. The parents on the other hand find it great that, their wards are busy playing video games, without even realizing the cruel reality that’s slowly developing in the kids’ mind.

To kids, virtual experiences feel very real, not only because the graphics today are so amazing, but because they are taking on a first-person role in the killing process. Rather than just passively watching a rated-R violent movie, when kids play a game, they are one of the main characters inside the adventure. The entire experience becomes a more meaningful — and deadly – in their brains, which are forming new connections every day.

Investigators and Researchers discovered that people who played a violent video game for three consecutive days showed increases in aggressive behavior and hostile expectations each day they played. They also found that those who played nonviolent games showed no meaningful changes in aggression or hostile expectations over that period. Kids mind is an imaginative world, where they believe most of it to be true. Foul languages, explicit stunts, violence used in the games make them feel that these all are part of their social life and they grow up with it to become an aggressive individual.

Playing violent video games are easily blamed by the media and some experts as the reason why some young people become violent or commit extreme anti-social behavior.  But many scientists and psychologists find that video games can actually have many benefits – the main one is making kids smart.  Video games may actually teach kids high-level thinking skills that they will need in the future.

The only way out, is parent’s intervention when the kids chose a particular video game to play. Parents might evaluate the content before letting their kids go ahead.

    • The kids should be supervised as to what they are playing. Violent games have the tendency to corrupt the child's mind and be one also if he keeps on playing it.

That is because, he also wants to put it into action the violent things that the protagonists would do in the video games he plays.

Actually, the weird killings that students have done in the US can really be an ill effect of their playing these violent games on videos.

The parents should always be very vigilant into any change of behavior from being timid to overly aggressiveness of their children. When they notice that, they should talk with the child or better still have him checked up by a psychologist.

As it is said, prevention is better than cure. While early, it should be cured or treated or curbed.
