Getting Married Is Now Getting Complicated and Expensive Over Here

Last Saturday, I , together with some of my officemates, attended the wedding of the one I talked about in my previous post http://172.104.9.193/would-you-like-to-attend-a-wedding-if-the-attires-are-too-formal/ .

The reception was in the convention hall of a class hotel , which is actually an affiliate of the company we are employed with.

Since, we were waiting for the bride and the groom to arrive from the church , which actually took more than an hour, we talked about their wedding.

Imagine, the reception alone was for 200,000.00 pesos or $4,000 .

Before that, they posted their pre-nup video in facebook that was shot in different places and it looks like a movie with the bride and the groom to be, as the starrers.

That alone cost more than 10,000 pesos or $200 or maybe even more than that amount.

The gowns of the bride , groom and their entourage must have cost them about 50,000 pesos or $1000 or more.

The flowers too that were decorated at the church must have cost a lot , let’s say 10,000 pesos or $200.

And there are additional foods they also provided for the reception like the 2 lechons. They also served nachos with dipping while we waited for them to arrive at the reception.

The reason why they arrived after an hour to the reception , was that from the church the bride and groom went to some more nice places for more photo shoots.

Oh I forgot, the video and the photographs must have cost them more than 30,000 or $600.

All in all they must have spent more than 330,000 pesos or $4,600. But I tell you , this is way even smaller than what my niece and her husband spent when they were wedded last year.

I know, they saved for that for many years and to be wedded is just once in a lifetime experience of a woman, so why not?

As for me and my and my hubby did, we really did saved a lot for our wedding day. However, we opted for a simple wedding where only the families of both parties, closest relatives , friends and officemates were invited.

With the rest of the saved money, we bought our appliances, so when we came home to our rented house, it was already complete with our needed appliance.

Nowadays, if you don’t have much money saved , you will not have a wedding you can call a very memorable one.

But isn’t being wedded even in a simple rite, already a memorable occasion for the bride and the groom?

What is important is that, after the wedding they already have a place they can call their own , even just a rented one at first , but with complete needed appliances already.

Well, everyone has their own preferences though.

    • For those who can afford never care about how much to spend. What's on their mind is happiness and fulfillment of their dream , yet there are practical people that better like to weed simpler and have the most money save to start for a family.

Thanks for sharing this factual happenings in our society this time.Write more , blog more and earn more, lol.

      • Well for the rich, money doesn't matter indeed, as long as they will be happy with it.

But for those that are on budgets, they really choose to be more practical.

And that's what me and hubby did when we got married. It was just a simple wedding with just the family, closest relatives, friends and officemates present.

At least we already have appliances in our rented apartment when we went there to start our married lives.

We didn't regret having the simple wedding. But simple thought it may be , the guests really appreciated the foods that were served. We just added lechon and chicken macaroni salad.
