Can’t They Say “Thank You” At Least ?

Here in the Philippines, our common way of public transportation is the jeepney.

Since the entrance of a jeepney is only one for those riding behind the driver, most of the passengers would seat at the far-end of the benches. It is easier to alight from there, than when you are at the innermost part of the jeepney. You have to bend because the jeepney’s ceiling has a space good enough only for sitting. Usually, they don’t have conductors , who collects all the fares of the passengers.

So this means that those just at the back of the driver, would be the ones (they have two benches facing each other) who will always be giving the fares of the passengers passed to the seatmates until they reach that person.

It just so happen that at night going home from the office, I would prefer to be at the back of the driver, because I will be alighting after almost all have reached their destinations already. Besides, I feel safer just at the right part of the front seat where the driver and two passengers are.

Thus, when everyone would be paying their fares they would give me their fares to give to the driver.

It is okay for me actually, but some would just give me their fares and don’t even thank or smile at all. Sometimes, I would turn my back on them and play deaf , so they will just give their fares to the person on the other bench near the driver also. Ha ha ha!

I wonder why it is so difficult for other persons to say “thank you” at least to the one who gave their fares to the driver.

I always do say thank you if ever I give my fare to the person near the driver. Would you also say “thank you” when you pass your fare to give it to the driver if ever you ride a jeepney?

So for everyone to have a clear image of how it is to be riding a jeepney, I have attached a picture taken by yours truly for everyone to see.

    • People changed in our country. I had also experienced this a couple of times. Sometimes if I am in a moody situation, I will not get their money. I will stare at them first, if they said something and ask politely, then I will get the money and pass it through the other passengers. I do this just to give them a lesson. Most likely, young generations are doing this especially college students.

      • See, so even you feels annoyed with some people treating you as if you are the conductor when they give you their fare.

I would also do that too. I stare at them with glaring eyes and get their fare and give it to the driver. Then, I would say "Thank you Ha?". And the person would timidly say "Thank You."

I know , other people might think I am so sensitive, but I guess that';s how it is with people used to good manners and saying thank you always, when done a favor. he he he

    • yes sometimes i ignore it and sometimes if im free i teach them lesson also by only stairing so they get it
