If You are Hacked; blame yourself

Hacking has been known to everyone since 1990, when the Internet became commercially available in the 1st World and for us, in Jamaica, we knew about it, even before we could get onto the Great Cyber Highway.

We had BBS and we had computer games.   The games were often cloned copies of someone else’s game because there was very little market in Yard.   Those who used computers could fit comfortably in a minivan.

I recall getting a chess game after a lot of effort, and it wouldn’t work because it wasn’t registered.  I went into Command Line, brought up the programme, looked down the list, deleted the Registration with a simple del reg*.* and ouila!  I could play Chess.

I didn’t play Chess.   I began hacking everything that could be hacked because it was more interesting than playing Chess.

We hacked into each others accounts, learning that 1234 was not a good password, nor was the name of our kids or our year of birth, etc.

Once we got on the ‘Net we learned to download malware protectors, and change them often.  We never opened anything we didn’t know, go to sites that demanded anything, used proxy servers, and created email accounts which were not our name, used nicks, and often substituted a & for an ‘A’ or a $ for an ‘S’.

One would think that in 2000 everyone and their poodle would be aware of hacking and by 2010 only the rawest newbie doing nothing more than going to Facebook could expose him/herself to hackers.

On important Servers, we ran Linux.  And on computers that had important information, there was NO internet connection.  I don’t mean not plugged in, I mean there was no ability to connect at all.  No wireless no modem, in fact, it was virtually a 286 from the 1980s.

For the Democratic Party to be so pathetic that they could be hacked should lead to the firing of every person who claimed to know something about I.T.

Hacking isn’t that difficult when one deals with stupid people.

They use Chrome on top of Windows 10 and might as well lay out a red carpet.   They use easy to guess passwords; i.e. a political party that has as it’s slogan; ‘prosperity’;   can you guess the password to their computer?   Or, those idiots who use #2il99&loX9i which is on a post it on the screen so the pizza man can see it.

To try to provoke an international incident with Russia over hacking, claiming that it influenced the American election is rubbish.   If I intended to vote for Hilary no false story, no ‘secret’ email would deter me.

Maybe people thought that Trump was so ridiculous that no one would vote for him.   That was what I thought. But then, I forget that the Idiocracy is now.   I forget the standard racism and fear of foreigners.   People voted for Trump.

It has been proven six ways to Sunday that the Fake News was written by apolitical Macedonians who were only looking to make Ad Sense coin by getting hits.   If Ulsterman’s ‘White House Insider’ couldn’t have toppled Obama, how could the one off stupid stories effect voting behaviour?

Hate is the most powerful emotion.   One can claim they would a mile in the pouring rain without out an umbrella or raincoat to buy a gift for the person they love.   But one does walk two miles through a hurricane if that would hurt the person they hate.

If your computer is hacked, blame yourself.

Blame yourself for not having malware protectors, firewalls, opening suspicious emails, going to suspect sites, using particular browsers, and having an easy to crack password.

    • Yes. The people during the campaign too light of Mr. Donald and vehemently criticized him starting from his mouth to every organ of the body.
It is the xenophobia as well as the racism that stirred up their minds making the gray matter more powerful tool with analysis and self-conscience.
Hacking as you said is not at all an issue and it will be the stupidity to blame Russia for the victory of Mr. Donald. Still, they are not realizing this aspect and continuing arraigning the Russian Government in the politics of the U.S.

      • What is so significant is that you and I see this so clearly, and persons who are supposed to know better, don't.

People voted for Trump. Maybe a lot of people who didn't like Hilary very much assumed that Trump couldn't win so didn't vote.

However, unless they have proof that the Russians hacked into the voting machines, they should just shut up and stop making trouble.

    • You said it right. We need to be aware of those possible factors that could hack our computer. We need to be vigilant in clicking some scam ads. I had once hacked by joining a certain ad and almost got all my personal information. I managed to change all the passwords of the social networks, PayPal, and the like.

      • you have to download and use different malware. You have to be sensible. We can't blame other people when we are at fault. This thing with the DNC just causes the world to lose respect for them.
