The “Conscious” Green Decision that he Took

Its already 8:15, and I have to hurry up, Deven thought in his mind as he quickened his pace to gobble up rest of his sandwich.
He had a meeting at 9:00, and still had to do a few things at home.
Yet the one decision that was puzzling and causing him mental unrest, was yet to be decided.

Now perhaps he was thinking in these terms:

Car: ‘If I take my car, I can save myself from the early winter pollution. Yet, taking it will cause even more pollution.
It will add up to the existing polluted atmosphere.’

Rickshaw or Auto: ‘If I take either a Rickshaw or an Auto, it will be a bit of discomfort. I will have to put up a handkerchief over my mouth, and still have to inhale more of the polluted air. Yet it will be wonderful to contribute my bit for a greener and a cleaner environment. It will feel so much nicer.

‘Oh Mr. Deven in just a Auto or a Rickshaw- what about your reputation, or class?’
‘Is class and reputation more important than an environment where we can breathe fresh air, and people are not suffering from various ailments?’
‘Its rubbish, one person can’t change it alone. He or she needs support.’
‘But yes, at least that person would have started the things. If each person tries to avoid doing his bit, then it will be nobody’s baby.’

So much in his head, it was dizzying for Deven.

However, within just a few minutes, Deven had made up his mind.
‘So I have decided.’

Deven then boarded an Autorickshaw and almost went to his workplace.

Note: Friends this is a fictional story, but what Deven faced during his decision to go in an AutoRickshaw instead of car, can come in anyone’s life.
Yes, the choice is a tough, but if you think that even little, everyday steps from your sides like using less electricity, making compost of vegetable and fruits waste, instead of just dumping or burning, using public transport, and less polluting choices instead of more polluting, are some of the things that we can do to reduce atmospheric pollution, which showed its grave and sinister form in Delhi recently, where a deadly smog almost made life hellish for people, who faced pollution levels more than almost 15 times that of permissible limits.
