Password Problem

How password were kept previously?

In ancient days one picked an easy word, maybe one that matched their username, i.e.  “Cowboy”  would go with “Hat”,  or “Barbie” would go with “Doll”.

We weren’t thinking about hacking until it happened, and then we changed our passwords to be a bit more difficult.

So Cowboy changed his password from Hat to Pizza and Barbie changed hers from Doll to Ronaldo.

Then things got harder and sites demanded a more tricky password.   A longer password.  A password that had numbers and symbols.

A password you had to write down so as not to forget.

Hackers have always tried to make themselves seem more brilliant than they are.

They try to make it seem that using their brilliant brains they were able to ‘guess’ or ‘deduce’ the passwords of targets.

In truth, all they have to do is get into the office and look at the post-its stuck to the monitors.

You want to know the password for this Bank?  Why simple.. see the post-it?  What does it say?   *hi3)u84w3o9… that’s the password.

You can’t remember those passwords.

Firstly, its a job.

Most employees check themselves at the door and turn into robots for eight hours. They kick the dust of the salt mine off their feet as they leave.

Secondly, the password is invented by some A.I. so has no connection to human thought so isn’t memorable.  You can’t remember it, even if you type it every day.  It just doesn’t hook on the brain.

Thirdly, for ‘security’ these passwords change often so that on Thursday the password is now PP%#)174937k.

So that goes up on the post-it on the monitor.

In your private life you are now forced to do the same thing when it comes to your most crucial accounts.

The bank doesn’t let me create a password that I will recall, it demands the symbols and the numbers and the caps.  To check my account I have to go and find the book in which I wrote down the password.

This, of course, defeats the whole purpose.

Yes, I understand that if you use Lawyer as your Username using Law as your password isn’t sensible. It is too easy to guess.  But What about Toast when the ‘o’ is changed to a ‘0’ and the s to a $?   T0a$t.

But so many ‘geniuses’ demand the 12 letter/number password that one has to write it down.

And having to write down a password means the pizza delivery boy will see it as he passes and be able to capture it, use it, or sell it.
