I think there are many low cost devices in the market which allow you to access the internet. There are many tablets and the small phones which can be good enough for the low cost internet access. Also you can do a lot on them using the Android. So the concept of the 89 dollar laptop is nothing new. But for some people that much cost can make a huge difference. You have to see the point that the cheap devices are still the dream. Because fully working laptop with Linux is sold as equal price to that of Windows and mac laptop. We are yet to see the revolution in the laptop market with low price. So that’s something worth checking out. In this article, I want to explain how the pinebook can be one good alternative or you can say value for money laptop for the regular work.

This company has the 64-bit ARM-based Pinebook laptop. And offering something 64 bit at this low cost is very few companies can do at this point. And for that I must say this company has pulled out some good decisions. I don’t know how many other companies can do the same. The technical specification of this laptop are not that bad either. You can see that there are some really good reviews coming up for this brand. And I think for third world countries, this surley can be one good option to be on part with the developed nations. I for one wish to see this going as much as possible.

You can see that the device has the 11.6” display. And it has 1366 x 768 resolution which needs to be properly checked. The device also has the quad-core 64-bit ARM Allwinner soc, which is at this price is the best you can get. The device also has the 2GB RAM and 16GB Storage. So this does looks like a good option to me. It’s just that it may not be for all the type of people. And it’s meant for replacing costly netbooks from chrome and other device manufacturer. I’d say it’s got a good start and lot of good development going on ever since. And I wish to see this project through for what they have done so far.

Chromebook

I think interesting thing about this sort of devices is that it can replace chromebook. And if you are serious about the work, then you can port most of the Linux laptops applications. With RAM such as 2GB, I think most of the desktops on linux can work with it. Ofcourse KDE and Gnome 3 may have some issues running on that. But surely it can work out just fine. I for one wish to see how those laptops are fairing against this pinebook. Because for 64 bit applications I have found that chromebook is not that bad. And for pinebook to perform well with large numbers the work has to be done a lot.
