3 Ways to Enjoy your Work

When you wake up in the morning, do you feel lazy and reluctant to get out off bed?

Do you feel dread towards getting ready to work at your office?

Are you feeling unhappy with your full-time job or you do not enjoy your work at all?

What is “Work”?

Work is a job, where you are given several tasks and responsibilities to accomplish them everyday for the company you work with.

You are being paid daily in wages or monthly in salary, depending on the number of hours you work for the company.

Some company pay employees through bank accounts, issue cheques or simply give cash at the end of the month.

You work in a company with several or a huge number of colleagues , you  work under your superior, manager or directly under your boss.

Work is not an enjoyable task

Who says that jobs are enjoyable ?

You work in order to earn money, to bring home food and to pay bills, debts that you owed to.

You can enjoy your work if it is your PASSION or HOBBY.

For example:

Love swimming= a swimming instructor or life saver/life guard

Love baking = a baker

Love sewing= a tailor

Love physics= a teacher/a lecturer/ a professor / scientist

However, whatever passion or hobby that you love might not end up as your full-time job because you need the qualifications or degree to meet the requirements.

3 Ways to Enjoy your Work

Although you may not love your job, but you decided to stay on working because you are satisfied with the salary and the employee benefits provided.

Hence, there are ways to help you to enjoy your work if you LEARN to enjoy the nature of your job and environment.

#1 – Nothing is Perfect

Remember that in this world, nothing is perfect. You cannot expect everything that you do or planned would work out as accordingly daily.

Sometimes, nothing goes perfectly well at the office when the computer crashed, the copier broke down at crucial time, you missed the bus, somebody took away your stapler when you needed it.

Do not lose your temper. Keep your cool. Take a deep breathe, focus on how to find the solutions, to fix the problem immediately.

Do not put the blame on others. You will create a scene , miscommunication, conflict with colleagues and gossips in the office.

#2- Life is more important than work

Yes, your career is important because it is your rice bowl to your family and your own expenses.

Your work is never done. Everyday, you need to meet new challenges that helped you to improve and excel in performance.

However, you really needed a break, a time to be with your family.

Your existence to your family is equally needed, do not ignore them.

Your kids needed your love, care and time to be together during weekends and after work.

Your spouse needed your help, discuss together over problems, your passion and love to be loved.

Give equal time to your friends and parents on weekends or public holidays.

Take some time to continue with your hobbies, outdoor activities and taking care of yourself ( your health).

#3- Don’t allow your work to control your life

“As long as greed is stronger than compassion, there will always be suffering”- Rusty Eric

Money is not enough. No matter how much money you had earned, it is always not enough. It could never fill up to the brim of your greed.

Working is a compulsory job that one has to do daily in order to survive.

However, do not let your work to control your life and destroy your relationship with your loved ones.

Work meets demands, harsh and impossible demands that lead you to insomnia, stress, anxiety and frustration.

Set a personal time that you need to work, stop working and sometimes you can accommodate with overtime on certain days.

Everyone needs at least 6-7 hours of sleep daily.

Everyone needs 2-3 meals a day, never skip breakfast, you can skip lunch and have light dinner.

Everyone needs a 20 minutes of exercise daily, yoga or meditation to calm down your nerves.

Remember that you needed a rest in order to work faster and accomplish your tasks without making mistakes.

There is no point to work overtime and keep making mistakes, right?

    • That is really helpful but when you think of life, the hard life we are living, and we are working for a bread for a day, how can you enjoy your work. It also reminds you that you are not receiving high salary, you may not enjoy your work.

true, it is difficult to enjoy working for your job but what can you do when you needed a job to live on?
Hence, might as well learn to love your job instead of hating it
Then, you will work longer for the company rather than job hopping yearly, right?

    • Lazy and reluctant? Nope. These days I'm happy every time I open my eyes. :)

Dread going to the office? Used to! But I quit my job. No more dread. Wasn't the easiest decision to make but I have absolutely no regrets.

Work is what you do to earn money to pay the bills. But it should involve doing something you like. However, if you're not fortunate enough to land the job of your dreams, be positive about the way you approach your tasks and be thankful you have a job. A lot of people are unemployed. :)

    • Those facts are all true, we all need to eat about 3 times at least and have a good rest to be able to better focus on work every day. And I also agree to that fact - Life is more important than Work. So true. I guess that not everyone thinking like that.

    • How can someone enjoy his job when there are colleagues that are putting pressure on you? making you always stressed up, you wake up in the morning knowing that you have to go through it all over again for a new day, it kills my mood.

    • So true. I agree with your sentiments. The only way to enjoy your job is by no ing what you do, without that it will be impossible to enjoy your job. I remember one time I was in such a situation where I used to struggle every single day, when I wake up I just want to get back to my blankets shut my eyes and tell myself that this is just a bad dream. But the reality of the matter was that I had no choice, but to wake up bathe dress up ha e a cup of tea and hit the road. It really made me sad soetimes just thinking about it. So this can also be very disappointing to you and your employer because you don't even focus on your work you have no passion to do yourbest and get your company to the place that you would want it to be. So I would suggest to anyone that is not happy in their job to start looking for another job and leave where you are for th3 sake of being sana and healthy. It's really not worth it to stick there and be frustrated throughout your life in the name of securing a job.

    • When I had my previous regular jobs, I always stick to my official contract with the company. Some employers forget the agreement between them. If things are beyond the agreement, then it needs to let them be reminded. I might say that I had enjoyed all my regular jobs. The only thing that makes me apprehended is because of my co-worker.Some colleagues are not competent enough. That makes me focus more on my responsibilities based on my job descriptions and nothing else.

    • Work is a source of pleasure if no work life is dull doing something is better than doing nothing. Work may be irksome but its end is better on the contrary negative work start is sweet but its end is bitter. Therefore work according to choice brings happiness to the worker if not may have benefit and lies in it fame without cast.

Because work comprises such a large part of our life, perhaps we should take a closer look at some simple ways to enjoy work more. Because we all have the ability to change our perspective, we also have the ability to change the way we feel about different aspects of our lives. Work is an area of life that is often ripe for a little perspective modification.

What would it take for your work to feel more enjoyable and rewarding? Is there a way to create a mental shift that would allow you to start looking forward to working?

We spend a lot of time trying to find ways to be more productive, and I am all for productivity to a point. There’s nothing wrong with finding ways to spend our time more effectively. But instead of just doing more work in less time, it is also important to find ways to enjoy the work we are doing.

Whether you are an employee who needs to develop a more positive attitude toward work, or an employer in search of HR software to make your job less stressful, their are things you can do to make work more enjoyable.

    • You have the point with your blogs. But I must add this “We often miss opportunity because it’s dressed in overalls and looks like work.” ― Thomas A. Edison

A 7-Step Path to Enjoying Work

      1. Realize you were designed to work.
      2. Understand work takes place in an imperfect world.
      3. Use work to supply provisions for yourself and your family.
      4. Notice how your work contributes to the common good.
      5. Work ethically.
      6. Humbly and proudly accept honest compensation.
      7. Remove the pursuit of riches.
