2 Super Easy Ways to Find Posts You Want

Have you ever wondered if a writing friend has published a new post? On some sites you can subscribe to a feed so you’ll be notified when a favourite writer posts something new. But even without that option, it’s possible to find new posts when you want to. On LiteracyBase you can use two easy methods to locate a writer’s texts. The first is to look in the user’s activity and filter just for posts. The second is to consult the person’s author page.

Finding an Author’s Posts: Method #1

Filter for Posts in the User’s Activity

Step One: Go to the Profile Page

The first option for finding an author’s posts uses the filters on that person’s LiteracyBase profile. Look for the person’s username anywhere on the site. Depending on where it’s displayed, it might be an “@” mention like @Ruby3881 – or it might just be the person’s display name but if you hover over it with your mouse you’ll be able to see that it’s linked. What you want to do is click through that link, so you’ll find yourself on the Literacy base profile page for your author.

The profile page will have a URL that ends like this: /members/username/

Step Two: Filter the Activity for Posts

By default, when you land on a user’s profile page, you will be in the “Activity” tab. If for whatever reason this isn’t the page that’s showing, look for that tab in the blue menu box towards  the middle of the screen. It should be the very first menu option.

Now you want to look for the dropdown menu that’s labelled “Show.” By default the page will be set to show “Everything.” You want to select “Posts” instead. Click the arrow and then click “Posts.” The content that displays below the menu bar should now be just the posts that LiteracyBase writer has published to date. you’ll see a notification for each post that says something like, “[User’s display name] wrote a new post, [Post title] [a time in days and hours] ago.” That will be followed by a snippet of text from the post, and by the featured image, if any, that the author chose for that post.

You can now click the title for any post that strikes your interest, and it’s easy enough to return to this page from the “Members” menu of the site, or by clicking the username of your favourite authors in the forums.

Finding an Author’s Posts: Method #2

Visit the User’s Author Page

Step One: Click on Any Post Written By the Author

The easiest way to access the author page is from any post by a LiteracyBase author whose writing you enjoy. If you already know of such an author, you can follow the steps in method #1 to find one of this writer’s posts.

If you aren’t yet sure which authors you may want to follow, why not check out a few to see what’s on offer? You can easily view the latest posts on the site by going to the “Blog” menu at the top of any page at LiteracyBase. This will show a number of posts that you can scroll through, beginning with the most recently published content.

You can also access specific posts by clicking on the thumbnail at right of the page under “From Blogs.” Select any post that looks interesting, and click through to load the post in your browser.

Step Two: Click on the Author’s Name

Once the post has loaded, you should see the author’s byline at the top in a blue box. The author name is beneath the post title, and it will have a little person icon next to it. When you click on this link you will open the author page. This page displays all the published posts by that LiteracyBase user. You can bookmark this page and refer back to it whenever you want to find the author’s latest posts.

    • Thank you for sharing these methods. I always use the second method, and did not realize about the first one. It's always good to learn more and I am glad there are so many helpful members to share with us! :)

      • @kaka135 It's easy to forget about the first method, especially once we've visited an author's posts here. But for anyone who wants to follow a writer they've known on other sites, the first method is a great way to discover a post that will lead to the author page :)

    • Thank you so much for sharing this. I definitely find these easy methods to find an author's post. It was a little difficult when I first started here so this will come in handy to those that are just starting out.

      • @morgoodie It can be difficult to navigate any new site. My aim is always to help make things easier for my fellow writers. I'm glad I could do that for you!

    • I find it very handy and easy use in finding posts which need my attention or for a matter of review or rereading. You have indeed helped us not only the newbies or just joined in a few minutes or a day, but also us who have been here for several weeks already. This do-it-yourself guide is very useful. I should have said it.

    • It will not work when the site grows bigger, and some authors have 500 or more posts.
They need to put in a Google search button to display all blogs for a given keyword.
