Zimbabwe hunt the mighty South African team in ICC CWC 1999

They lost their first wicket in the form of Grant flower on the team score of 65 runs in 13.4 over’s and Zimbabwe were able to score 233 runs in allotted 50 over’s and the loss of only 6 wickets. N Johnson top scored the innings as he made 76 runs in 117 balls with 10 4’s and strike rate of 65 runs in 100 balls M Goodwin also batted well for his 34 runs in 45 balls.

South Africa was needed to score 234 runs in 50 over’s to win this game.

South Africa started miserably and lost first 5 wickets for only 34 runs in 10.1 over’s in the form of G Kirsten, H gibbs, M Boucher, J Kallis and H Cronje. South Africa went on to lose this contest as they were bowled out for only 185 runs in 47.2 over’s with Lance klusener and S Pollock both top scored with 52 runs each in 58 and 78 balls respectively.

Zimbabwe won the game by 48 runs and N Johnson was the Man of the match.
