Would You Get The Prize Even If You Knew Who The Real Winner Is ?

Actually, this is once again a throwback from about 3 years ago.

This actually happened during our Christmas party, where at the party before it started, we voted through writing our bet in a given small piece of paper and putting it in a small box as to who would be the Best Dressed Female and Male of the Night.

The winner for the Best Dressed Female was actually the HRD officer and they’re in charge of the program, games and the whole party.

But, when they tallied the number of votes for each nominees, it turned out that it was her who won. She won by 6 votes as against the second one, which is the Finance Head.

However, she announced that the winner was the Finance head instead because she reasoned that some of the employees might think, the HRD department had manipulated it.

Though just like me, the announced winner went home already in the middle of the party, when it was finally tallied and announced, so she was later informed about it in the morning when she reported to the office.

However, when I post-audited the small papers with the names of the nominees during the party and tallied them, it was indeed the HR officer who won the Best Dressed Female of The Night and she admitted it when I confronted it and me her reason why she had to announce the other one instead.

Thus, I decided to tell the announced winner about it and told her that they just share 50-50, the 2,000 pesos (US$45.71), since the money is yet to be given away after I have audited the result.

But the Finance Head adamantly refused and said the HR officer is the rightful owner to the prize. Hence the prize was given to the HR officer.

Gosh, why would even this small contest have a controversy? I thought it only happens in big contests.

But I admire them both because they each have their dignified pride for themselves.

If ever you are the HR Officer, would you also just give way to the next highest tallied female, since her position being the overall in-charge of the contest would be questioned, if she announces that it was her who won?
