Like many people, I work from home as a freelancer.
I’ve been working from home for about 5 years. The main reason I work from home is because I was having bad luck finding a job in my town. There really isn’t much to offer where I live.
Feeling down on my luck, I decided to try my hand at work from home jobs. I did my research to see what was available and was surprised at the number of things you could do to increase your income.
Of course, they had phone work, customer service, and chat jobs.
I applied for a few of those with little luck. While the jobs sounded good, I realized maybe it wasn’t such a good fit for me. I’m on the shy side and can’t see myself talking on the phone or dealing with customers.
So I turned my search towards writing and data entry work, which are the two things I’m best at. Writing, I had no problem with. I was able to find plenty of sites that paid for articles and blog posts.
Data entry work is something that’s harder to find. Not many companies are hiring for data entry specialists. The only place I can find this kind of work is with short task sites. Sure, the tasks don’t pay much, but I’ll take a few cents over nothing.
Aside from freelance writing and data entry, I’m also a survey taker and a consultant for several direct sales companies.
While I love the jobs that I do, I have to admit sometimes its hard being an at home worker. Sometimes work can be slow and the money you make isn’t that much.

I know there are people who work from home and earn a living out of what they do online. to be honest I wouldn't have the patience and I think it's easy to fall to temptation because you don't have a working schedule and the more you earn the more money you will want...this is how your online activity will take over your real life

I had been writing 6 years ago.
I don't earn much because I am a homemaker, no time to fully utilize my time online.
I have to cook, clean, educate my kids and do household chores.
I wish I could get a job, maybe I will when my kids are grown up
I work from home as well after marriage and move to a new town, my hubby's home town.
There are pro and cons on working from home. Freelancer need a lot of discipline in planing the job, if not, might failed to survive and enough of income.
And, getting some regular client base is very important for a freelancer to have sustainable job flow and income too.Thus, customer management and bill management are another important part of job of a freelancer as well.
Work in your PJs, avoid the commute, answer emails from a hammock while sipping a pineapple daiquiri—you’ve heard the common benefits of working remotely (and yes, they’re true!). But there are some things that might surprise you about what it’s like when you don’t have to go into the office every day.
Working from home means no 9 – 6 job, no boss to report to, no travel hassle, saving time for skills you want to learn, and so on. You just need to select a work, online or offline, according to your proficiency and interest and set up your small office at home.
I work from home. For not it's not a question of favorites. It's just applying the skills I have and hoping to turn the activity into income. So far it's writing, blogging and affiliate marketing. I continue to explore other avenues.
