No, I really didn’t win a million dollars, wishful thinking! However @scheng1 challenged the writers here at LiteracyBase to make a blog about “how to spend a million dollars” or variations of that as there topic. I’m imagining what I would do with a million dollars. Of course it would be hard to work and save up that kind of money, so I just won it!

The first thing I would do would be to pay off all my outstanding bills. You know those bills that you have made arrangements on paying but with the interest that they add on to a delinquent bill, you just never get it caught up. So those would be the bills I would want to pay off so I would improve my credit rating. Yeah, I’m sure you’re thinking with a million dollars, why worry about your credit? Well, I want to start off with a clean slate again, because that million dollars will not last forever.
Speaking of lasting forever… I would probably buy burial plots for my husband and myself. Which brings up something else, even though I like to save my money…you can’t take all your possessions with you when you die so I would probably have to spend money on funds for my grandchildren. Put some money into an account that can draw interest that when they turn of age they will be able to use it for college or whatever they plan on.
Of course we would spend money on home repairs or maybe even buy us a brand new trailer house. We already own the land. Of course maybe buy us a new 4 wheel drive pickup and I would want a SUV. Maybe we could buy us a mobile home that we could travel in and we could take some time off and see family that live far away from us that we haven’t seen in a long time.
I would also like to donate money to a legitimate home less organization. I know organizations helped me when I was in need. Maybe even spend money and buy houses for some homeless veterans. I would like to think that I would spend that million dollars wisely, but once I would get it…I would probably spend it foolishly!!

Wow, that is a good one! I never think that anyone will put burial plot as one of the first things they buy after winning a million dollars!
As for funds for the future generation, there is a better way to go about it.
There is a kind of insurance known as 3G - three-generation insurance.
You can check on it, and after you have won the million dollars, you can buy one of the insurance for each of your grandchildren.
