William Shakespeare: One Of The Most Notable Author

If we could only talk about great and known authors, William Shakespeare is always on the first lists. When we read English Literature, Shakespeare is one of the famous names.

During my high school days, I really can’t understand his writings unless it was explained by our teacher. Sometimes, I was just reading his writings without proper understanding. My question is “why is he so great?”

First, I want to talk about him. I made some research and readings to know more of his personal life. Well, William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, England in the year 1564. His early grammar school has a very effective curriculum. There were times that he went to London to work in a theater. I also learned that he married at an early age, 18.

When he was living in London, he wrote two plays every year and made it to 38 victorious plays. Although he didn’t publish those plays but he saw it performed in many theaters in London. All those plays are well appreciated by the audiences. After how many years of staying in London, he retired from his work and he went back to his hometown, Stratford.

After he died in 1616, some actors determined that his plays were printed. Seven years after his death, the First Folio (his collections) came out.

Shakespeare is nothing but a very good storyteller. Every play he wrote and performed by actors entertained the audiences. Almost all of his plays are for entertainment purposes.

He also created some plays that are true to life that is why he is considered as a profound thinker. Some plays are reflecting the life of people. I believe that most of us read at least one of his writings and observed how rich his vocabularies are when it comes to the English language.

He also wrote poetry during his leisure time. He created a lot of famous poems about love that includes the 154 sonnets.

And did you know that he also a word inventor? Some of the common words that we use nowadays are his own words like watchdog, lonely, and leapfrog.

Here in our country, the Philippines, his ROMEO AND JULIET as well as the HAMLET are very well known. That is how great William Shakespeare is.
