Why Pagan Rituals were Adapted

The most effective method of spreading Christianity was to take a Pagan ritual and present it as their own.

The Celebration of the Winter Solstice and the Rebirth of the Sun,  was easily altered to become the Birth of the Son.

But most historians are fairly certain that the man known as ‘Jesus’  was not born in December.

Many historians would place the birth of the man English Speakers call Jesus in March or April.  They would use the measure of Shepherds being in the field with their flocks.   This idea of a Spring birth has been confronted with more valuable historical data.

Many place the date of birth in September/October using the fact that  “Jesus” was born six months after “John”.

The possibility of a September/October birth is heightened when one reads carefully and knows something about Judaism.

It must be remembered that both “Jesus” and “John” were Jews.  Their names were actually Yeshu’a and Yohan, as there is no ‘J’ in Hebrew.

Jews were to attend the Temple for the Holy Days, Rosh HaShanna, Yom Kippur, Sukot and Simcha Torah. These dates fall in September/October.

The fact that ‘there was no room’ in the Inn, meaning that there was a crowd, would match perfectly for Jews coming to Jerusalem for the Holy Days.

As Bethlehem is only 7.1 Kilometers from Jerusalem, and the assumption is that there would be no space there, nearby Bethleheim would be second choice.

Remember in those days, walking 7.1 km was no big deal. That is only 4.4 miles, and would take about 45 minutes.

It is likely that many people who intended to go to Jerusalem for the Holy Days would book a room in an Inn in Bethlehem and walk to and from Temple, which would not be a  problem.

This would explain what there was ‘no room at the inn’.

Hence to determine the Birth of  Yeshu’a  in September/October, matches perfectly, for at that time of year, Shepherds would be in the field with their flock, and the Inns would be crowded.

However, in trying to ‘sell’ Christianity to the pagan world, the easiest thing is to incorporate what is into what you want.

Tradition is not troubled, simply given a new meaning.

No one stopped Pagans from their Saturnalia, no one interfered in Sun worship. All the signs and symbols were swallowed up by the Church, given new meanings, and returned.

As is evident, the celebration of ‘Christmas’ has absolutely nothing at all to do with the birth of Jesus, (Yeshu’a).

It is the wrong time of year, and not a single symbol; from the evergreen tree to carolling to giving presents, to getting drunk, to having fairy lights in any way shape or form is ‘Christian’.

The Celebrations, going on for thousands of years, were not disrupted by inserting a ‘new’ face and creating new meanings for ancient symbols.  It made those who were celebrating the Son of Isis seem to be celebrating the Son of Miriam (Mary).

Unlike religions which confront and condemn and cause dissension, Christianity simply absorbed.
