I think many of us want to be sustainable with freelancing. Because who does not want regular work and the projects? I am sure almost every one of us want to be into the freelance projects. And with amount of efforts being taken into freelancing. Many people have managed to start their own business. So transition from freelance to business is not going to be an easy switch. This is one more thing that we all have to understand here because projects that we get from the freelancing are not regular. Many buyers are going to dupe you even after working nicely with them. That’s another reason why this is not worth going for. I wish to discuss how the freelancing is not a good solution for many among us. And what are some of the things that we can do in this case to avoid it.
Irregular Work
In sites like freelancer.com, upwork and many others, you’d find that people are charging very low. And this makes it really hard for you to adjust. The price war makes it harder for you to compete with many of those who can work on low cost. And in between building your profile is not going to be easy. You’d end up in more of an issue than being in comfortable business. Because working on cost lower than 5$ is not going to be easy for most projects. So make sure you spend your energy into working on regular projects. If possible find the local work from where you can get good money.
Low Cost
People go for freelancer because they want low cost. If they wanted premium price, they would hire the companies. As you can see low cost work is not stable for many. And in process you’d find that low cost only ends up making you find another client who also pays low. So this cycle of low cost keeps on going. It just makes you wonder if the low cost work ever ends at all. You can see that low cost is something many freelancer struggle with. You should avoid going for thee low cost. And establish yourself, it may surely make you wonder initially how to price your service but you can get around it eventually.
Lack of Consistency
I think the reason nobody wants to be freelancer is that it lacks consistency. You can see that freelancers struggle with this and they have payment issues too. And you can see that if enough payments are going to be pending on clients side too. I am sure you can understand that many of us want consistency as far as money is concerned. So one should learn how to find clients and keep them. If we can learn that then sure we can make freelancing work for us. I think not all of us can pull that out. We just have to work harder in such process. Lack of consistency is the reason i don’t like it either.
So freelancing is not easy. And you should consider getting into it if and only if freelancing were to be consistent we all would be into this type of business.
