Why Are We Unable To See Good Days And Appreciate Them

Generally any human has his good and bad times in life and they are like sunshine and the shade. They are two sides of the same coin. People often jump and cry when they have the bad days but no one seems to appreciate the good times which one gets. Even if there people they are very few to find. Let us see why people are like this and why no appreciation is there for the good days in ones life. And why even if one sees them they are unable to appreciate the same.

The whole world in general tends to magnify the bad things in life and this when it is done creates a larger than life image of the bad things in life which exist. This means that those who face the bad times in life tend to highlight and repeat the same to ten more people and this word of mouth negative publicity spreads very fast and makes the whole world look a gloomy place to live in. While the same person when he is enjoying the good times does spread the good word as how he does in the case when thing are bad.

One more reason one can attribute as to why we are unable to see good days and appreciate them is because. People would never want bad things to happen to them and they would want only goodies in life. Whereas life is not like that, it is a mixed bag. People do not want this they want all good days and no bad days in life. This over expectation from life causes thought problems and also creates a mental block in the mind where the individual feels that even if one bad day comes the whole day for him is bad even though some good event may have also taken place. It is rarely appreciated and valued. It is also not given the importance which should be given to it.  We should understand that life is neither a bed of roses nor a crown of thorns it is a mix of both.

There are some individuals who are prone to whining on a continuous basis. Even if they were born with a silver spoon. They are never satisfied with what they possess. They want more and more. While to a certain this attitude is good for business anything which is pursued in the extreme is bad and results in negative consequences. The reason why these individuals do so is that they would have seen if they keep whining more and more seems to come their way and thus they get a fixed thought in their mind that if one always keep whining over the situation he can expect more of what he already has. I have personally seen people doing this. They say if they accept good which is happening to them and do not whine then bad days will be round the corner.  So even if they are happy they suppress the happiness and keep whining outside for the world to see. These people are generally toxic characters and it is better to stay away from them.

In the case of children when they are young they tend to ask for toys of eatables which they like if they are not given the same they create tantrums and get the same immediately. This gets registered in the mind of the child at a very young age that if you cry and create tantrum then you will get what you want or else you end up with nothing. They finesse this habit into an art as they grow and then become adults and continue with the same habit which they have learnt and perfected in the childhood. This is a case of bad parenting which has resulted in this situation. So the child ends up unable to see happiness and appreciate the good things which come their way in their life. As they are used to this habit they cry even if they face a small problem and fail to appreciate the good things.

There are some people who seem not to  appreciate what they have received in their life  and always compare what the have with those who have struggled or slogged more than them in their life. The conveniently do not seem to see the struggles which that other individual had to go through to reach that status. They simply observe where they are now in the society and compare that individuals situation to what their situation in life is now. Whereas life provides them happiness too which they find it very less compared to what others are getting and so feel it is not worth appreciating the same. This constant comparison of themselves with others in different situations which are unfair comparisons makes them unable to see  the good times and days which they too are enjoying. This is quite sad and these individuals should change their thinking and attitude. They should also learn to respect themselves, their work and appreciate the good days and the fruits of labour which they are enjoying.

Jealousy also makes one unable to see the good days and times one gets. These individuals are always not happy with what they have even if they have the best things in their lives. They will always be jealous about others having something which they do not possess or are unable to acquire. This makes them go through the vicious cycle of getting one thing they would want and before they appreciate it they see something else in some other individual and again want that if they are unable to get that they feel bad and if they get it again before they appreciate it they see something which another individual is having and go after that. So this ends up as a cycle of negativity. The sooner this habit is change the better it is for the individual.

There are a large population of people in the world who would have been going through a very tough time since childhood as their family is financially in a weak and desperate situation. Survival itself becomes difficult. This same situation which is a vicious cycle of poverty continues even when they grow into adults. By that time they are immune to something which we call a bad time. But when something good too happens to them they do not know how to appreciate the same as they have not seen good times in their times and hence do not know that good times means. One fine day if destiny changes their situation and they become rich even the past haunts them and they fail to appreciate good times and things which life has offered. They end up in a depressive mode all though their life. This is  a unfortunate situation which a large population in the world is going through and the sooner this changes the better it is for the world as a whole.

Life has become a rat race and everyone is involved in this race since a young age. In this situation what happens is that when one good thing is accomplished there is no time to savor the good times one has worked for immediately the next task or job starts and it is a never ending cycle where individuals end up slogging day in and day out all through the year. No break or rest to the mind to appreciate the good things which life is bestowing leaves the individual to work as a machine with no life and emotions. All humans emotions get suppressed. This continues work mode since childhood and no me time till the adult age makes one fatigued and the individual feels that there is nothing worth appreciating in life. His mind is always on a work mode and they turn into workaholics. This affects personal life, family life, social relationships and they are unable to relate with others easily. As they say ‘all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’.

These are some of the cases in which one can observe why we are unable to see good days and appreciate them. One should also remember that happiness and good days are like small drops of water which we should learn to collect and carefully use. If  we harvest the same over a long period of time. Then we are able to leave a legacy where the others who are there around in the future can appreciate and enjoy them. This way life will be appreciated by the in a balanced way and they will be able to handle bad too happily.  Don’t worry be happy.

      • Thanks for the appreciation. Yes this topic was such that the blog become a bit long. Good to here from friends like you it always makes my day. Hope you were able to read my other blogs too. Agree with you that the people about whom this blog discussed and who are of different types do not seem to appreciate the good days they get to see. I feel sad for them and hope they can understand what they are losing in life.

I have tried to highlight different situations which make people do such a thing and also tried to analyzed why they do such a thing. I personally have seen many people who are very well of and have everything behave like this. Their condition looks pitiable and pathetic to say the least. Hope people who are having this problem try to understand life and appreciate the good things which life offers. Thanks for the inputs.
