When Writing is The Most Excinting Thing

Introduction

Since I was very young I knew I would love to be a writer. I dreamed of thinks I could put on the paper, stories I could invent and make others go with me through my imagination and navigate this immense subjective and dreamy world we all have. All I had to do was to write and write about things I liked.

But, one day, I realized how would I reach people with things I wrote in the past, or even what would I do to make them be interested in the future. That was a major problem I would have to face, but I never gave up on my dream.

First Steps

Even not being so very much skilled in Portuguese language, that is my mother language, I decided to write short stories and poems, so I could get used to the idea of writing every single day. The poems were alright and they came easily on my mind and words also were written easily so I thought that was my real thing. And, because of that, I decided to study languages at University so I could master Portuguese and write even better in my own language.

University

This time was not an easy one as the faculty itself had so many students from so many places and I was a boy in my 18 years of age and felt so greatly lost among so many things to be done and know at the same time. But efforts make us stronger and all I did was study, study and study a little more and in four-years time I got my Diploma and after that I started my Master Degree in the same University.

I can remember at that time I stopped writing a little. My literary work was not so much stronger than in the past and I can say that I got a detour for some time, focusing on research at University and that made me feel powerful and intelligent. But nothing was like writing and I was not happy, because being powerful doesn’t mean we are happy. That was a very ephemerous state of mind and all is gone now. What is left? Writing!

Teacher Time

But, going back to the writing path was not an easy task. I had to work and make money to survive in Rio de Janeiro, city where I used to live, and so I decided to work in one big school very far from my home, but the salary, at least, was good. I can tell that at that time my carrer began as a teacher and it lasted 20 years. I taught Portuguese and Literature, but I always knew there was something missing in me and that was the writing I did so every single day of my teenagerhood. I had to return to that epoch, even being older, but I could do that and I knew it.

Present Time

After being a teacher in a very unstructured and dead educational system in Brazil, I decided to quit and become a translator. As I also speak Spanish, I applied for two jobs and got the positions as a freelancer translator and now this is what I do. And, guess what? As I work from home, in my spare time, I write my poetry and also my short stories. Unfortunately, they are al in Portuguese and I can’t post them here, but I will try and translate some of them in the future so I can post something to you all.

Thank you so much for reading me and never forget to pursue your dreams. This is the most important thing in life and we all can do it. No matter when it comes, our dreams will be fulfilled and we will be happy with everything! Life will smile back at us, as it always do, and the way will be easier!
