What Happens When the Site Dies

Many of the sites which offer free viewing of television programs or movies are bordering the edge. There is often some ‘copyright’ issue or, more usually, a gang of hackers hired by the owner of the rights to the television program, and Bang!

The site is shut down!

If if you are unlucky, it is in the middle of an episode you are viewing.

However, considering the hundreds, (no exaggeration) of sites all over the world, it is as distressing as leaving your house, locking the door, taking three steps, realising you left your cell, turning back, unlocking the door, taking up your phone, and repeating your steps.

Not particularly catastrophic.

Solarmovies.to was fine.  I liked the site a lot.   I was watching a number of different programs on it.  At the moment  I was in the middle of watching NCIS, Los Angeles,  and suddenly there was a freeze.

Okay.

This does happen often. Many of the sites will have a pause, usually to do with a slow Internet connection.  So you pause the movie, play a round of solitaire, giving the site time to load, then come back, and unpause to restart the movie.

This time it didn’t restart.

This time I got a message; “Sorry, the episode you are trying to view does not exist.”

I tried to reload the episode, thinking maybe there was one of those disconnects,  and what?

Nothing. Nothing but an alert that the episode was no longer on the server. None of the episodes were. The program no longer existed on solarmovies.to

I skipped over to NCIS, the original series.  I save the sites I like for easy access.  I had been watching the episodes there, on Solarmovies.  NCIS, the original series was gone as well.

Solarmovies.to is down.

It may be down a few hours, a day. It may return with a slightly different name. Often, those who run these sites make the kind of link from the old site to a new one so when you enter the name you know you are transferred to another site.

When I watched my programs on watch.com, all of a sudden I noticed that the site was no longer watch.com but watchepisode.com.   No problem.  After a month or so, when I entered watch.com or watchepisodes.com I arrived at watchseries.com.

Okay.  Not a problem.

That was a time back.  Now, most often, if I enter either name, I am transferred to watchseriesepisodes.com.

So, when solarmovies went down I skipped over to watchepisodeseries.com.

I found the series, NCIS, Los Angeles, and went to the episode I had been viewing.

I moved the timer a bit, first to 10 minutes, then to 20 minutes as I was not certain how much of the show I had viewed on solarmovies before it died.

I reached my placed, and completed watching that episode.

After completion I opened another window, entered watchepisodeseries.com, found Rosewood.  This is a show I watch sparingly so as not to add it to my ‘wait list’.

A wait list is when you are watching a current series and reach the last one, and have to wait for next week’s episode.  Just as if you were watching on television, not computer.

I went to Rosewood, found season 2 episode 16 which I had intended to watch next on solarmovies.  Instead, I watched it on watchepisodeseries.

I was not at all displaced, not at all discomforted.

This is the ‘trick’ when you watch television programs on line.

Always remember; there is ALWAYS Another Site. Always. You just have to find it.
