What can be done if not sending the kids to nursery?r kinder garden?

I have two kids, one is 8 year-old while another younger one is 5 year-old, the latter is supposed to go to kinder garden at this age. In fact, some of the parent in my country send their little kids about 2 year-old to nursery with some learning and study course while taking care by the helper in the nursery.

This a good alternative way for those working parent whom need to send their kids to day care for the whole day until 5 p.m. The working parent in the urban area prefer to send their kids to the nursery with some learning section rather than nanny whom only know how to feed, clean or sleep the kids. Off course,  this kind of nursery might charge higher compared to those traditional  baby sitter.

I don’t send my kid out to nursery or kinder garden due to I am a stay at home mum, so I able to handle the little one at home by myself while work for some part time job during the free time when the kids take a nap. I can save some cost of nursery about USD50 and even up to USD200 for the urban area’s international kinder garden.

What can be done if not sending the kids out to nursery?
1. The parent can teach the kids by themselves if they have enough knowledge with them. For my case, I can teach the basic knowledge to my kids as I am a Degree holder.
2. Set a story book reading section. I set the bedtime story book reading section, so the children able to catch up with learning and able to learn some vocabularies.
3. Teach the living skill. I prefer the kids to learn more living skill like house cleaning, cooking, gardening rather than academic. This method is adopted in the Western countries, thus I think this is a good way for my kids.
4. Handicraft section. I prefer the kids to do more handicraft or drawing rather than writing or compose an article when they are still young, thus I prefer they stay at home, so we can do it together.

We can have more flexible learning timetable if compared to send the children out to nursery, so the kids can have a tea in the morning in a more relax way, see my picture! 😛

    • Yes, when you are a stay at home, you can just educate your kid yourself. There are a lot of learning books that you can show to him to aid your teaching. Besides indeed you can teach him a lot of things more, like good manners, Godly teachings and yes crafts that a kid can do.

In our times as a kid, we were taught how to read the ABCs through an old retired teacher/ auntie who teaches what we call "kartilla".

At least before we went to formal first primary grade, we already know how to read as well as write the ABCs amongst other things.

As to the tuition fee, just minimal.

    • Thanks for sharing, yes, we learnt from some retired teacher or educated auntie or uncles when we were kids, and some of us learn drawing or colouring when attended the class in the church. The guide taught us sing and dance as well. What a sweet memory.

I prefer to let my kid stay at home not only cost saving, but I don't want him to be burdened by too many home work, have no time to play around and climb the trees. Hahah!

    • Pre-school is really essential for kiddies. For some parents, pre-schools are like babysitter and kids learn at the same time. I am not saying most parents do this. Practically speaking, it does happen in real life. I cannot say much about nursery school. I never been to this school during my toddler years. I go straight to primary school at 6 years old.It is the best stage for the child to socialize with others. They need to mingle with them to feel comfortable going to school.
