Why websites do not post controversial content

Increasingly websites which pay contributors or members do not post any kind of controversial content, especially criticizing corrupt government officials or large companies. If a person will post or contribute controversial content to these websites,the post will be deleted, not accepted ( in case of moderated content) and in some cases the account will be closed, wasting the time and money spent online. On the other hand, television news and other channels, newspapers and magazines will openly criticize and carry news of various frauds without being concerned, in many cases controversial stories will increase the viewership or number of readers for the TV channel or magazine.

The reason why online content is censored is related to the fact that intelligence and security agencies are closely monitoring online content. In these organizations, employees are expected to follow the official line or story, individuals are not expected to have their own opinion, especially if it is contradicting the official policy. So these officials also expect online content to adhere to the same guidelines which they follow, forgetting that domain ownership is largely private, and the domain investor is taking a risk, he or she may or may not make a profit. If the domain investor does not follow the guidelines for publishing “positive news” these officials will ensure that the website is boycotted by search engines, especially Google in India.

Another reason why websites do not publish controversial content is that powerful officials in the internet sector are very intolerant and do their best to ensure that the websites publishing news of frauds or exposing misdeeds of large companies do not survive, make losses so that they are forced to close the website. There are many methods used to punish the website for posting controversial content, the google adsense account will be closed, it will be difficult to get direct advertising due to diversion and theft of emails,leads and orders, payment will be blocked, ad network will be told not to accept the online publisher. In some cases,a DDOS attack will be launched on the website posting controversial content or news stories to cause losses.
