When I got the opportunity to design my own house, I wanted to put it up keeping in mind least maintenance. At the same time we both wanted that our dream house had as much white in it as possible. This was the most difficult task of all but I succeeded to give SOLITAIRE this effect.
I got in touch with an expert painter who gave me the idea to use marble paste for walls. He also told me that while I could go for white, there would be areas where there would be the prospect of the walls getting dirty such as the wall holding the wash basin. He suggested I could have a chocolate marble grain effect. And that is what we chose. The painter gave it an exquisite finish.
The walls were finished with polish and that gave them a shine.
Marble paste is made from white cement and marble dust to which a whitener which is blue in colour is added. One needs to be adept at giving this touch and my paiter proved to be an expert in this area.
The walls just need to be washed with soap and water. It is twenty five since the house was built and we never felt the need to use paint.
The area where this house is built is prone to heavy rain with the fear of heavy leakage when tiles are used. I went for the marble chips pasted on the sloping roof. While every other house around had to put up another roof above the existing one to take care of leakage, we did not have that problem. It is twenty five years and I can proudly say there is no leakage no matter how heavy the rain is.
The exterior is a place that requires heavy maintenance and here again the walls were finished with white waste marble chips with some design around the area where windows have been fixed.
We had ordered for about 3 trucks of waste marble chips in two sizes.
We also used these chips for the flooring.
SOLITAIRE has an artistic look and there is no dearth of visitors appreciating its finish.

I'd never heard of using marble like this - especially on a roof. I wonder whether this is something that might catch on in North America as well. Certainly, the prospect of a roof that lasts without the need for replacement or repair would be appealing to many here!
@Ruby3881 -Most houses around here have an additional roof above their concrete slab because of leakages. We are spared.
That's a lovely house. You did a great job in making it so beautiful. Marbles are also good materials in decorating a house. It is also shows its real color when being wet.

I am first curious to know why the name of your house, SOLITAIRE is called as such. Why SOLITAIRE? I ask myself. I want to surmise on that rationale why that beautiful house of yours got her name SOLITAIRE. It is because that house is the only edifice found in that place where it is being built. Am I not right?
Another speculation I may present. SOLITAIRE means alone. Therefore, it is the only one house in that place, which has the unique house design, the unique kind of painting use in her interior and exterior design. It is the only building and no other else, that holds that bizarre building structure and design.
Last guess. probably the owner is a bachelor. He is still single. He lives as a solo person who works, who earns a living. Anyway, that is only the way I developing my thoughts towards an issue. Hope it appeals anyone who reads this. So be it!
