Unfortunately these projections stop viewers from watching waterfall that are right under their nose. I too spent a fortune to go all the way to Niagara Falls that divide America and Canada. India is not lagging behind.
Jog Falls is one of the prominent water falls of India. It belongs to Karnataka and goes by the rain it receives. . And this year it has swelled – almost competing with Niagara Falls. It has secured a place in the list of world’s best waterfalls It is surrounded by greenery which adds to its beauty. It has a fall of 253 meters and throws up mist just as the Niagara Falls. One can go up the falls – rather a rough terrain – but that is not encouraged.
Jog Falls is created by the Sharavati River and is situated in the Shimoga District.
Jog Falls is a picnic spot and many tourists spend a whole day there. There are boarding and lodging facilities in the vicinity if one wants to extend their stay.
Any travel agent will guide anyone how to get there. There are no 5 star facilities around but visiting the site will be an experience of a life time.
Although the waterfalls never dry up the best time to watch a waterfall to its full potential is during the rainy season. I did get to finally visit Jog Falls to watch it in all its splendour and noticed it almost compares well with Niagara Falls.

I was feeling very sorry whenever I was reading about waterfalls. I could not see Niagara waterfalls. But the chances of visiting are still there for me.
But during my Sabarimala tour, I had the chance of visiting Shimoga District in Karnataka . My colleagues have planned to visit the Jog falls and I accompanied them It was really a mind-blowing to see the waterfall. All my friends went near the waterfall and had their bath that too in the biting cold weather. I had no guts. I could take bath but not go near the waterfall. It was really a thrilling experience to see jog waterfall.
If I get another opportunity I will definitely go and enjoy the spot again
I love waterfalls and everything around them. They not only do good to my eyes but also to my ears and in short my whole body.
The sight of water falling from such a height and that too with such a force sends thrills all through my body.
The sound of falling water is simply out of this world.
The scenic beauty of rock and stones around is just so good.
The entire aura around is worth experiencing.
I never fail to lose any chance of visiting a water fall.
