We keep receiving conflicting reports about the goodness or otherwise of what we eat but so far walnuts have been spared in that there are only good reports about this nut.
I had done a lipid profile a couple of days ago which showed that my LDL cholesterol was higher than normal. Obviously I would have to do something about it
Rather than start on medicines I did some research about what one should eat, a bit of it, I had already known. I would also have to increase my exercise which will help me increase the good Cholesterol (HDL) I would also have to eat more of sardines and mackerals which have good amount of omega 3.
Every single page that I accessed sang the praises of walnuts as being the best nut which contains more omega 3 as compared to nuts such as almonds, peanuts and cashewnuts.
The question was the quantity to be consumed every day. I was more keen on knowing the weight of shelled walnuts rather than whole nuts.
Reports suggest that one should eat 7 or 9 whole nuts or 1.5 ozs (about 42 grams) of the shelled walnuts. I was happy to read about the weight of nuts as I already had a kilo of shelled walnuts with me.
I will be going on a war footing also eating oats and my doctor recommended that I take red wine 5 days in a week – 90 ml per serving.
While medicines do keep one’s cholesterol in check these niacins act on muscles and weaken them which I wand to avoid.
A holistic approach is what is called for which perhaps could eliminate the need for medicines which only complicate matters. Ofcourse if the situation worsens there would be no alternative but to go for medicines until normalcy is achieved and then go for natural methods.
I will test again after 3 months and hope to see good results by then.

Walnuts are very good and they happen to be my favorite nut to eat. All other nuts seem to taste the same but they have a distinct flavor to them. They are good for filling you up when you want something healthy to snack on!
May main reason for eating walnuts is to take care of my cholesterol levels without medication. Changing my lifestyle rather than eat pills is my challenge.
