Whether it is a big house or a small house everything can be transformed in a day. The big room in a house can be made look grant by applying a light-colored paint over its wall. A small room can be made very cozy and comfortable by pasting a suitable dark-colored wallpaper. Most of the people break their brains as to which one should be preferred for their homes.
Paint and Wallpaper, both have got their own advantages and disadvantages. Most of the disadvantages can be overcome by the selection of appropriate choice as per the location of the room, its durability, and traffic.
Paint is very simple to use and any novice can apply it with a little practice and observation. But, there are varieties of paints available in the market like Enamel paints, Acrylic paints, distemper paint. Anybody can apply these paints on to a wall. But, there are also some special paints like textured paints which need the services of professionals. They are skilled and any attempt by a novice to handle these paints only lead to waste of time and money.
Similarly, the wallpaper is available in the market in various colors, designs, and patterns. A wallpaper fixing needs some experience. Every person can not handle a wallpaper like ordinary paints. They need some glue which will be supplied along with the wallpaper. In some cases, one has to follow the special instructions laid down therein in the Brochure.
There are many types of wallpapers like Traditional wallpapers, liquid wallpapers, Lining wallpaper, Vinyl Wallpaper, Embossed wallpaper, Non-woven wallpaper and the list goes on to many varieties with each one requiring some skill and the help of specialists.
While considering whether it is painted or wallpaper one has, therefore, to see whether he can afford for costly paint or costly wallpaper.
The second point includes the space. One has to see whether the location of the room requires a wallpaper or paint. Spaces like Bathrooms will have some wet areas. Fixing wallpaper in such areas is a waste of expenditure as the moisture will damage the wallpaper and this may peel off in the long run.
Another point that has to be a bear in mind is the Traffic. The children and guests most of the time spend time in the Main Hall. The children may try to scratch on the walls. This is not their fault but at certain times they do it automatically with hands or with any tool in their hand. In such cases, the paint may go off leaving shabby spots on the wall. The guests generally expect a good, comfortable, and pleasing atmosphere in any house. In such cases, fixing wallpaper will give a lot of relief and gives the desired results.
So, one has to use his discretion in the selection of a wallpaper and Paint depending upon the Budget, location, durability, and traffic.
There is nothing wrong in using the combination of both. But, one has to give a good exercise and boost up the Brain before taking such decision as it involves many aspects from all angles.

We use paint for our home here. Wallpaper is common too, but paint is easier.
My take on this is if one would want to use wall paper use it where children are not there like in an office or a hotel or similar other spaces. It can also be used in homes but only thing is that it may need to be changed a bit more than compared to paint. But when you change the same you can also get some new design or aesthetics which will be appealing to one and all and would look different.
Paints is what I prefer the majority of the homes where I have visited are using paints too. I feel that today there are specialized paints which are available in the industry due to innovation and these paints allow one to wash off the stains or any dirt which may have accumulated over a period of time. The number of years a house will look nice if painted also is more compared to wallpaper. This will save costs for the home owners in the long run. The only issue with paints is they contain chemicals like lead and other such things which are toxic to atmosphere and also to humans especially children.
