One of my friends gave me a reason to smile when I read her lovely comment on one of my posts that read, ‘you must be fit enough for participating in a marathon”. Yes, I think I am fit enough in my present age but let me clarify certain points. By the way I do not run, jog or walk for reducing my weight but I am at the same wait for last 20+ years. Let me also clarify that I have been in regular jogging and walking for decades no matter where I live.
I am still regular with my walks and jogging at a park 8 km away from my home especially for the purpose every morning at 5.30 when I am back in my home country. Let me admit the day I miss my morning session I feel miserable for rest of the day. And I have been doing this for years ever since I stopped playing badminton regularly.
Recently I was running in a half marathon that most front runners completed within 2 hours and I took the best part of three and a half hours to cover those 21 kilometers. I was kind of half running and half jogging at an average speed of 7 km/hr which was almost half of compared to the serious contenders that were running for prize on stake.
Let me also clarify that I have fit legs and even fitter body but I am not a trained marathon runner. I was a regular badminton player for years that helped keep my stamina in shape good and the tough pre-game practice that was compulsory before entering into the playing area really helped a lot.
So, I was running for the fun and company besides I had absolutely no chance to win against professional runners. But even if winning was out of question for me I could have run faster but then I would have missed the company of some of my friends running alongside me not having that much capacity or stamina but were in the race for the fun of it.
