Use of Modern Technology in cricket Part 1

These days modern science and technology is used in almost every field of work and sports and cricket is no different and it has resulted in helping the game to a great level. One of those is the way cricket has modified itself and it is called DRS or the decision review system. It is being used very successfully from some time now and in it the batsman or the fielding team skipper can review the decision from the third umpire or the Tv umpire. It can be taken on the Lbw or the leg before decision , catch issue or any other cause may be when the batsman or the fielding team captain is not satisfied with the on field officiating umpires decision. In the decision review system, many technologies are used. Firstly they check the bowlers bowling stride from the side camera if it’s a legal ball or not. If it’s not legal, review is wasted and no further check but if it’s legal then they move forward to check other things. If it’s a review for leg before wicket then they firstly check has the bat hit the ball before it impacted on the leg and for that they took the help of super very slow motion camera and use three different technologies like Ultra edge, snicko meter, which tracks if ball has hit bat first or not. Also most important and expensive here is hot spot. Which helps in telling properly and easily if ball hit the bat or other part of the body. This is also widely used in catching dismissal’s as well and is like a boon to the cricket world and umpires in answering many tough decisions. Many a times a lot many difficult decisions have been answered very well with the help of snicko meter, ultra edge and hot spot as well. The batsman facing can take advice of other batsman to take decision of taking review it or not.
