Here we are again with my daily soccer analysis and fixtures. Today it was time for some UEFA League Europe, where the second leg of the 1/4 finals take place. There were 4 matches kick off today, and all been scheduled at 21:05 PM international time.
These are the 4 matches that were going on today, and being in the center of attention to every soccer fan.
Besiktas – Lyon
Genk – Celta Vigo
Manchester United – Anderlecht
Schalke – Ajax
All of these matches were being played for the second time in this second leg of Europa League’s 1/4 finals, as prolongation rematch, to the first matches that ended up with these results: Lyon 2:1 Besiktas; Celta Vigo 3:2 Genk, Anderlecht 1:1 Manchester United and Ajax 2:0 Schalke.
Now what match really caught my eye is the one of Besiktas – Lyon [which finished 2:1, and the previous match at Lyon’s stadium finished 2:1 for the home team (Lyon) and now the aggregate result was 3:3] and was continued in the extra-time, which led to no change of the result as in the previous 90, now in the next 30 minutes of extra-time. As there was no goal scored, that result led to penalties.
It was really an interesting match, you could already see the sweated and scared faces of the footballers when they were just approaching the white circle in the penalty area to put the ball in and proceed to penalty-shootout.
The atmosphere at the stadium heated up, the tension was big, especially for Besiktas’s players as they didn’t want to break their fans hearts at their very own stadium.
The Turkish crowd started praying before Besiktas took the first penalty, there were wet eyes all around the stadium. The situation with one word was – anticipating.
The final result was 6:7 for the away team Lyon. The hearts of the French footballers heated up and have been risen from the exhausting atmosphere of the match that everyone been waiting to see the final result.
It was an ominous night for the Turks, as 2 players of Besiktas (Dusko Tosic and Matej Mitrovic) missed the last two penalties for Besiktas and when Lyon scored the last penalty, it was already decided who will enter the gates of the last 4 teams (semi finals) in the UEFA Europa League.
Reminder: TOMORROW is the drawing lots of who will face who in the both semi-finals of both UEFA Champions League and Europa League.
